House of the Dragon: George R R Martin Walks Us Through Magic, Dragons and More!

Ahead of the release of the first episode of House of the Dragon, HBO Max has released a video featuring George R R Martin, who gives us an insightful look into the world and its creation that we are about to step in. Serving as a prequel to the iconic modern classic Game of Thrones, the upcoming show is based on portions of Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood.

George R R Martin and Ryan J. Condal serve as the creators for this latest HBO show which stars an ensemble cast that features Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik are showrunners for the series that will cover the events set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon will revolve around the firey House Targaryen and will hold us witness to the events that led to the beginning of the end of the house. It will cover the Targaryen war of succession, popularly known as the “Dance of the Dragons” and all the internal and external incidents surrounding it. Consisting of ten episodes, the first episode is going to air soon and is titled ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’.

The recent clip featuring George R R Martin is described as “part planning, part imagination, final product: magic”, where we have the acclaimed writer talking about the construction of the magical world, we have been sucked in once and are ready to divulge in again.

The video opens with Martin talking about how handling the fantasy elements is one of the most important and critical things about a fantasy writer. He encourages people by saying that if you have the right recipe to make a fantasy story, you can do it. He gets into the details on the Valyrians and their blood magic and how their self and the relationship they share with the dragons plays a major role in creating magic.
