Hose of the Dragon Finale witnessed the classic GOT theme ending, with a major character death in the final minutes. The climax of the episode was quite similar to the events of the books, with a small change. However, the constantly surprising prequel did not part away from the death of major lords and ladies, throughout its run of 10 episodes.
Here is a look at all the shocking deaths in the Game of Thrones prequel.
1. Queen Aemma Tagaryen

The first major death in House of the Dragon Episode 1 comes right after Viserys’s decision of greed. His first wife, Queen Gemma Targaryen dies while delivering his baby boy, to maintain the line of their house hierarchy. However, as fate would have it, Baelon(the infant) dies after the Queen passes in the same episode and leaves King Viserys with his lifetime of grief.
2. Craghas Drahar (The CrabFeeder)

Episode three gave us the first battle scene in the House of the Dragon series with a clash between the stepstone fighters and the Valyrian army. The anti-climatic episode ends with a full-fledged fight sequence at the stepstones, followed by a definite finish from Daemon.
The threatening CrabFeeder reign is put to an end, with a final blow from the prince. Leaving us with one of the most spectacular moments in the series.
3. Lady Rhea Royce

At the start of episode five, we finally get to witness Daemon’s wife Lady Rhea Royce. However, her existence on the screen is much more short-lived, as compared to the other characters. Daemon rattles her horse with a sword and then finally smashes the skull with a rock, in order to proclaim his minute chance at inheriting the King’s position.
4. Ser Joffrey Lonmouth

Ser Joffrey Lonmouth is introduced as the lover of Laenor Valyron in the series. He appears in pivotal episode five, as a companion of the prince, and immediately faces the consequences of his close association. The first partner of the young Valyron is brutally murdered by Ser Criston Cole at the family dinner.
Although, it wasn’t revealed why Ser Joffrey Lonmouth was killed in the series, but who needs such context in a Game of Thrones prequel?

5. Laena Velaryon

The second wife Daemon and the heir to the drift mark, Laena Velaryon dies in a grand fashion in episode six. Her death comes as a surprise in the episode after she is pregnant with Dameon’s child and wants to return back to her Valyrion roots.
She orders Vaghar to culminate her existence and burn her completely with the fire. And unlike Rhea Royce, Daemon feels for the death of his wife and the pain of her last sufferings.
6. The Strong Kin

Ser Harwin Strong and Lord Lyonel Strong also die from the so-called cursed fire in the sixth episode of the series. After the rumour of Ser Harwin Strong’s relationship with the Targaryen Princess holds weight, the hand of the king decides to move his son away from King’s Landing.
However, the attempt to safeguard his house from the imminent danger fails, and both of them succumb to the cursed fire (which was allegedly put out on the wishes of Alicent Hightower and her trustee associate Larys Strong).
7. Ser Vaemond Velaryon

One of the most freighting deaths in the series comes in episode eight, when Ser Vaemond Velaryon insults the Princess and his sons, by calling them as Bastards. Even though King Viserys announces his verdict for the succession, Daemon takes the matter into his own hand, and slices the head of the possible drift mark heir.
8. King Viserys

Episode eight also marks an end to the rule of King Viserys the peaceful, after he refuses to drink the milk of poppy and succumbs to his unknown illness. This comes right after Viserys epic judgment to withhold Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne, and safeguard the interest of her daughter.
However, the king also adds fuel to the fire of succession by murmuring the song of ice and fire to Alicent Hightower. Which eventually led to Aegon’s succession.
9. Lord Lyman Beesbury and Ser Harrold Westerling

Ser Harrold Westerling and Lord Lyman Beesbury refused to accept Aegon as the rightful heir and ultimately faced the consequences of the closed mutiny. The latter died at the hands of the wicked Criston Cole, while the former was hanged while escaping King’s Landing.
10. Lucerys Velaryon

Lucerys Valeryon becomes the final character to die in season 1 of the House of the Dragon. The young prince faces the unjust battle from Aemond and is ultimately torn to pieces by Vaghar. Morever, his death will set the theme for season 2 and the basis of Rahenrya’s revenge on the green Hightowers.
