House of the Dragon Episode 5 Reactions: Fans Are All In for Daemon Being a Toxic Icon

You know that House of the Dragon Episode 5 is already out when you scroll down your Twitter account and all you see is a bunch of hilariously agitated series of tweets about the episode. While some viewers are still drawing parallels with all the Game of Thrones similarities, others are simply consumed by the Daemon-Rhaenyra love angle.

In this latest episode of HOTD, we’re once again served a plateful of explosive elements ranging from Rhaenyra’s open marriage with Laenor to Rhaenyra proposing marriage to Daemon, and both of them being all romantic right in front of Viserys and of course, the bloody wedding feast. One just can’t have a peaceful wedding in the GOT-verse, it’s but a custom for it all to go down in flames at this point.

The new episode shows us the deteriorating nature of Viserys’ health and his desperate attempt at finalizing the nuptials between Rhaenyra and Laenor, who ultimately decide to “tolerate each other”  and “perform (their) duties to (their) fathers and to the realm, and when it’s done, each of (them) dines as (they) see fit”.

As far as Daemon is concerned, he has his own tiff with his wife Lady Rhea Royce, that mark the opening of the episode. Other than that, banishment can’t promise him actually staying away. Every episode has him walking in like the diva he is as if he owns the place. And just like that, he’s at the wedding to “congratulate” his niece and also kiss her (Viserys does not approve).

The changing colors on Alicent (quite literally, she’s now sporting a green dress) were also a noticeable feat, speaking for the shift in her allegiance. While all does end well in a way this time, the House of the Dragon fans have become a group of masochists who turn up every week for a new level of tormenting madness, but at least they get to see Daemon being the loving toxic king that he is.

Milly Alcock was also lauded for her powerful delivery in House of the Dragon Episode 5 as many fans keep coming back for her performance. Harwin Strong is yet another character that the viewers seemed to have warmed up to. Several tweets expressing the fans’ love stating, “he served, he ate, he slayed”, started trending right after the premiere of this episode.
