Hound’s Hill Ending Explained
The series starts with Mikolaj and Justyna arriving at his hometown. There’s clearly tension as Mikolaj looks uncomfortable and that is proven when, at Tomasz’s house, he walks into an awkward situation as everyone looks unhappy and shocked to see him. Mikolaj has come back home after years and the fact that his relationship with his father is fraught is evident in their interactions. Things get worse when he and Tomasz have a fight over his mother, prompting Mikolaj to walk out of the house with Justyna back to Warsaw.

On the way, their car comes across a wounded Bernat Sr, who looks horribly beaten, almost disfigured. Of course, they aren’t able to leave anymore and they go back home to live at Tomasz’s house. Once there, Mikolaj starts to be haunted by visions of Daria and thus goes to visit her brother Sebastian, who is mentally handicapped and has been accused of murdering and raping Daria. Sebastian isn’t able to give him any new information and he leaves disappointed. Sebastian eventually ends his life, leaving Mikolaj feeling even more unsettled and guilty.
As Tomasz fights against a corrupt mayor and a mysterious German who wants to make many of the residents homeless and build a hotel, Mikolaj and Justyna get further enmeshed in the town. Meanwhile, Justyna starts her own investigation after the police end up being unhelpful and find out that the meat that was found in Bernat’s stomach was human and genetically linked to him. This pushes her to investigate further, eventually working with Tomasz to get to the truth of the matter.
What’s the Relationship Between Mikolaj and Tomasz?

Mikolaj and Tomasz start off with a terrible relationship at the start of the series thanks to their shared past. Tomasz was a neglectful and abusive father and husband and it is implied that he was physically abusive towards his mother. Mikolaj hasn’t been able to overcome this trauma and it might have been a reason he suffered from an addiction when he was younger. However, towards the end of the runtime, their relationship significantly gets better after Mikolaj learns the truth about Daria’s death but he isn’t able to overcome his addiction.
Why Does Justyna Get Into the Investigation?
Justyna is a talented investigative journalist who realises as soon as she arrives in the town that something is amiss about this entire ordeal. She starts off digging deeper to help the family out at first, but then she realises that this would make for a fantastic piece at work. In the end, this entire ordeal ends up becoming a very personal thing for her and she suffers heavily for her choices in the end.

How is the Mayor Involved in This?
The mayor isn’t involved in the murder plot, but she did try to sneakily sell the town off to build a commercial building that would help them make more money. Unfortunately, this would also end up making the residents homeless or taking away their jobs. In the end, Tomasz gets rid of the mayor and elects a close confidant as the new mayor.
What Happens in Hound’s Hill Episode 5?
In Hound’s Hill episode 5, the entire truth comes to light. Tomasz had planned this entire thing with Grzesiek to finally provide justice to Daria and Sebastian. The priest had told Tomasz the truth the first time the latter had a heart attack, probably thinking he wouldn’t live to tell anyone. However, he was mistaken. The true perpetrators of Daria’s murder were Jarecki, Macius and Bernat and they framed Sebastian when they realised that Macius had accidentally murdered Daria.
In the end, Mikolaj takes the gun from Tomasz and shoots Macius, putting the entire ordeal behind them. Justyna witnesses all of this and is left devastated and traumatised but Tomasz chooses to let get go instead of killing her.

Eventually, we see Mikolaj dating Kaska, Tomasz reunites the town in every way possible and builds an old age home for the town. It also turns out Dobocinski had known about Tomasz’s plan all along, but didn’t do anything because he wanted to rectify the mistake that he had made years ago.
Justyna receives a prestigious reward for her fantastic journalistic prowess but she is unable to overcome the trauma that she has gone through, along with her feelings for Mikolaj. Lastly, all of these devastating situations resulted in Mikolaj falling into addiction once more.
