Hijack Ending Explained
Why Was KA29 Hijacked?
The reason for the hijack of KA29 is revealed in the Season Finale, i.e. Episode 7. And surprisingly, it is for money. The organised crime Group (OCG), whose Edgar Janssen and John Bailey-Brown were members, intended to hijack the flight and make sure that the shares of Kingdom Airlines fell only to bet the other way and make millions.

As a fail-safe, they even took the loved ones of two passengers hostage, one of whom had a history of flying. In case something went wrong, she would take control of the plane and wait for a message that would be her sign to land it. No message meant that she would have to crash it. The message doesn’t arrive because Edgar, the one communicating with the hijackers and Amanda, is shot to death by John Brown. This meant that she would have to take the plane down along with those inside it. Thankfully, that doesn’t happen.

Did Sam Nelson Manage to Land the Plane?
Technically yes, but it takes more than one person to land the plane. In this case, it took a lot of people. While it was Sam who persuaded Amanda to open the door, it wouldn’t have been possible if the passengers hadn’t pinned down the hijackers and if Alice hadn’t assisted them and provided them with an alternate pathway to land. We shouldn’t forget that she was the one at ATC Heathrow who sensed that something wasn’t right with Flight KA29. At the same time, if Detective Daniel hadn’t contacted Zahra, who worked at Counter Terrorism Command, the whole incident could have taken some other unfortunate shape. So it was teamwork that brought the plane down safely.

What Happened to the Hijackers?
Stuart’s brother is dead. Stuart, Jamie, Terry and Jaden were arrested. Edgar Janssen was killed. Only John Bailey-Brown escaped with his teammate (the guy who shot Edgar). The two guys who breached Sam’s house and had Kai at gunpoint were also arrested by Daniel. So all the members of the OCG involved in the hijack have been handled. Needless to say, the OCG itself remains fully functional, planning another hijack or something more dangerous.
