Confusion only increases with the latest episode as the bizarre instances raise multiple questions. Nevertheless, the plot progression is done immaculately and at a consistent pace. From start to end, one will be entirely engrossed with the story and certain plot points that hint towards something bigger. However, the build-up is done slowly, providing a better understanding of the various characters and their relationship dynamics. It is also easy to keep up with, and ends the episode is an exciting cliffhanger.

Within the first few minutes, a “man-eater” appears that both Maru and Kiruko have to defeat to ensure their survival. The interesting aspect of such scenes is that the story does not entirely depend on brutal action sequences to overcome danger. They rely on wit and quick thinking to overthrow their enemies. This also provides insight into the characters and how they approach different problems. The creators have adequately set up a distinct difference between the “inside world” and the “outside world”. Where one lives a rather comfortable life inside the walls, one has to hunt for food for survival.

Besides the plot, the top-notch animation serves as the major element behind the excellence of the show. Every movement and shot flow extremely fluidly, along with an expressive dialogue. Another facet of the show is the beautiful character designs. Vivid and contrasting colours are used to create a spectacular visual. Moreover, 3D animation and CGI enhance both the look and elevate the storytelling process.

Even though there are multiple animes with a similar plot, the cryptic moments leading closer to the revelation is what keeps the show exciting. Additionally, there has been considerable growth with the characters, which makes it more relatable and breaks down the ice dividing the viewers and them, little by little.

The story has been moving forward with a proper plot with firm evolution. With only four episodes, the anime has already set the standard high. Expectations only increase for the upcoming episodes.
