The audience will get a distinct picture of what the anime will be about and how the plot will develop. Set in a world where following a catastrophic event which is named the ‘Collapse’, civilisation struggles to survive amidst the lonely terrain. Two sections have been shown where both worlds are unaware of each other’s existence. One exists within the safety of walls, devoid of any danger or depravity, whereas the other showcases the depleted version of society, desperately scavaging for basic resources.

Besides painting a picture of the two societies, the episode also displays a decent amount of events that take place within it. A staggering difference can be seen from the get-go as a few students enjoy the education and other facilities provided to them. On the other hand, people outside the walls fight over the bare minimum substances required for survival. Nevertheless, they are not completely uninformed about each other’s presence, as curiosity will play a key role in the story’s development.

Right off the bat, we are introduced to the main characters of the show. Tokio and Mimihime are two high-schoolers who appear to be normal teenagers. Scared of surprise tests and sports, they rely on each other completely to get out of any inconvenience. However, they are not completely oblivious to the outside world and start to question it. They are also provided with certain clues which make their assumptions true.

Meanwhile, in the outside world, two teenagers, Maru and Kiruko, are seen surviving in the ruthless city. They are met with many dangers as they walk around to seek shelter. From humans to otherworldly creatures, threats follow them from each side. A complex relationship between the two individuals is mildly teased as they are neither related by blood nor connected by any other bond.

The creators are able to successfully capture the difference between the societies and provide an outline of the plot. The twenty minutes flew by fast as the show introduced us to certain elements that enhance the story. Furthermore, certain facets of the episode hint at a bigger picture which will uncover later on. The build-up is done seamlessly, and the viewers can expect some mind-blowing action sequences in the future.

Animation for the show is intricately detailed and pleasing to the eyes. Moreover, the voice actors have successfully been able to bring the characters to life with their phenomenal performance. The episode ends on a cliffhanger which manages to rile up the audience and keep their anticipation high.
