Ever experienced heartbreaking anime deaths that left you distraught beyond repair? It is not unusual for shows to consist of the demise of major characters, but some deaths are too close to home, which takes us a long time to cope with. Even though they add major development to the plot and the main character, it hurts nonetheless.

Heartbreaking Anime Deaths
Hange Zoe
Hange Zoë is a major character in the Attack on Titan series, known for their intelligence, bravery, and eccentric personality. In the manga and anime series, Hange serves as the 14th Commander of the Survey Corps and is instrumental in uncovering many of the secrets and mysteries surrounding the Titans.
In part 4 of the series, while they were trying to protect Marley from the Titans, they suffered from fatal injuries. However, they fought bravely against them and managed to bring down several giants. It proved to be their last mission in the series, and willingly walked to their death. Hange’s death is a significant moment in the series, as they were a beloved character who played a vital role in the story.
Ai Hoshino
Ai Hoshino is the titular character from the series Oshi No Ko who is known for her talent and beauty. After becoming a famous J-pop idol, she suddenly became pregnant with twins. In order to protect her image, she gave birth in secrecy to two children, Aqua and Ruby.
However, she met with an unfortunate incident that left the anime community in shambles. An obsessed fan who found out about her pregnancy felt betrayed by her actions and violently murdered her at her house. The scene was so harrowingly disturbing and emotional that it takes some time to get over the instance.
Ace
Ace, is a fictional character from the manga and anime series One Piece. Ace is the older brother of Luffy, the protagonist of the series, and is also a member of the Whitebeard Pirates. In the series, Ace is captured by the Marines and sentenced to be executed for his status as a pirate and his connection to the notorious Gol D. Roger, the former Pirate King. Luffy and his crew, along with many other allies, launch a rescue mission to save Ace before his execution.
However, despite their efforts, he is ultimately killed by Admiral Akainu. Ace’s death marks a turning point in the story as Luffy vows to become stronger and achieve his dream of becoming the Pirate King in memory of his beloved brother.

Jiraiya
Jiraiya is a character from the Naruto anime series, and he is one of the legendary Sannin of Konoha. He is a highly skilled ninja and a mentor to several important characters in the series, including Naruto Uzumaki.
The character is sent on a mission to investigate the activities of the criminal organization known as Akatsuki. During his investigation, he engages in a battle against the leader of Akatsuki, Pain, in order to gather intelligence on the organization. Unfortunately, Jiraiya is ultimately defeated in battle and is mortally wounded, which ultimately leads to his death.
Koro-sensei
Koro-sensei is a fictional character from the manga and anime series Assassination Classroom. He is a highly intelligent and powerful alien creature who takes on the role of a teacher for a class of underachieving students.
In the series, the character is initially portrayed as an invincible being, but it is eventually revealed that he has a weakness. The students of Class 3-E succeed in assassinating the character, but it is revealed that he had deliberately allowed himself to be killed in order to teach his students an important lesson about life and death. His death is a highly emotional moment in the show, and leaves a great impact on the students and the viewers.
Maes Hughes
Maes Hughes is a fictional character from the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. He is a loyal friend and ally to the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, and a high-ranking member of the military.
While investigating a conspiracy within the military involving a group of powerful alchemists known as the Homunculi. He uncovers important information about their plans and is on the verge of exposing their secret when he is assassinated by Envy, one of the Homunculi. His death is a devastating blow to his friends and colleagues, particularly his wife and young daughter.
