Head Over Heels Episode 9 Recap
The episode picks up from last week, when Gyeon-woo is able to see ghosts, and we see the things Seong-ah had told him about ghosts taking over his body if he starts to see and hear them. Overwhelmed with thoughts, he takes part in the competition, but the ghosts keep haunting him. Elsewhere, General Dongcheon walks in on Yeom Hwa performing the Unifying Spell and tries to intercept, but it’s already too late – Gyeon-woo already feels the effect of the spell on him. Thankfully, Seong-ah keeps him grounded.
As Seong-ah cheers Gyeon-woo on, she suddenly feels the Unifying Spell working its magic and immediately gets wary for his well-being. Thankfully, she has her own spells to counter Yeom Hwa. In the end, Gyeon-woo wins the competition, but afterwards, they both hold the truth regarding what they are going through.

Back at home, General Dongheon and Flower Master realise that Seong-ah has been cursed by Yeom Hwa, as the latter is as well. The General is incensed, but there’s very little she can do since Yeom Hwa refuses to back down. She tries to insist to Seong-ah that they are both the same, but General Dongcheon steps in and tells her that she will take care of her, just like she took care of Seong-ah. Elsewhere, Gyeon-woo insists to Great Aunt to keep Seong-ah safe. As they leave, she instructs him to stay away from evil ghosts and blood; otherwise, his fate will be worse than death.
When he comes home, Flower Master asks him to take care of Seong-ah, who will be in a lot of pain very soon. They soon fight, but it’s resolved before too long. However, the next morning, General Dongcheon has a field day kicking Gyeon-woo to the moon after she discovers them cuddling!

As Seong-ah comes down with a fever at school, Yeom Hwa thinks back to Seong-ah’s comment about carrying a wooden box on her back and becomes increasingly scared. General Dongcheon, meanwhile, realises that she can either save Yeom Hwa or Seong-ah. Yeom Hwa soon confronts her for hiding the truth about the coffin and has a complete breakdown. General Dongcheon tells her that the heavens cursed her by taking her baby from her, and hearing this, she promises to curse her till the day she dies.
B-Plots: Mo Beom is harassed incessantly, and Seong-ah discovers the Suicide Ghost hovering around him. Plus, Jin-woong continues to obsess over Do-yeon, believing that she’s the reincarnation of his dog, Bok-i.

Meanwhile, at school, Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo try to stop Beom from ending his life, but Gyeon-woo cuts himself in the process, spilling blood. Things immediately go out of hand, and Bong-su takes over his body. He doesn’t tell her, though, and then takes care of her when she falls more ill. She sees through him, though, and directly asks him what happened to Gyeon-woo. Bong-su tells her that he has devoured him.
Head Over Heels Episode 9 Review

I mean, my rating proves it, but Head Over Heels episode 9 is absolutely fantastic. Drama, romance, humour and a touch of horror towards the end completed this episode out perfectly, so much so that I went through a complete overhaul of emotions in these 60 minutes. I mean, it’s not every day that I understand and feel sympathetic for the antagonist’s actions, but here we are with this K-drama. Either way, this is easily one of my favourite shows this year (till now,) and this episode really proves why.
