Have a Nice Day! is a drama about Quique, who is still living his rock and roll era and yearning for his long-lost love long after retiring from his job as a radio host. The story is quite simple; it’s the story of three lives and how they affect each other. Just like most dramas, it’s slow and takes its time to build momentum. It gives us a moment to understand who these people are, all of their different sides and helps us create a better perception of them.
The movie, as mentioned, is quite slow, but it’s not boring. If anything, you slowly come to know our lead Quique in very intimate ways. You feel sympathetic for his, Nicho’s and Amanda’s struggles. You want Quique to meet his La Bomba after so much struggle, finally. Thus, when he takes this fated trip with Nicho and Amanda, you’re hopeful about the entire situation as well.

As mentioned, it’s a simple story about love and hope – about looking forward to something that gives life meaning. And you’re right there with Quique to go through the motions of whatever that means for him. The movie does give you hope, but there are some moments, especially in the first half of the film, when you will feel a bit bored. Some scenes go on for a bit too long, and there are some moments that we could’ve done away with.
However, that being said, it’s an enjoyable watch that will make you smile from time to time. I loved how Quique started to soften for Nicho, and although we don’t see much about him, we sympathise with his sad home life. I do have an issue with Amanda’s character having little to no backstory, though, and she is only there as the token romantic interest character.

Music plays a role in the movie, especially rock-and-roll. I loved the songs that the creators chose to push the film forward. It’s fun, peppy and backs up what is going on in the film well.
The actors also reprise their roles well. Álvaro Guerrero has the most to do in the film, and you will feel some connection to him even though his character is simply insufferable at first. His character arc is truly heartwarming, and by the time the film ends, you feel so much sympathy for him. Eduardo Minett and Andrea Chaparro are fine as well, although the latter doesn’t have much meat to her character.
Summing Up: Have a Nice Day!

Have a Nice Day! is a sweet drama about hope and love. It’s not the best out there, but it does make you smile and keeps you entertained for the most part.
Have a Nice Day! is streaming on Netflix.
