f you’ve just wrapped up watching the latest Hindi Prime Video sitcom, then here’s how things unfolded during the Happy Family Conditions Apply Season 1 Ending. Starring Ratna Pathak Shah as Hemlata, Raj Babbar as Mansukh, Atul Kulkarni as Ramesh, Ayesha Jhulka as Pallavi, Sanah Kapur as Ayushi, Meenal Sahu as Tisca, Raunak Kamdar as Sanjuoy and others.
With ten episodes in the first season of the family comedy-drama series, the show began airing on Prime Video on February 19, 2023, and wrapped up its chapter on March 31, 2023. The series is directed and created by Aatish Kapadia and Jamnadas Majethia under the banner of Hats Off Production, the same production house that brought us the classic sitcoms of the early 2000s – Khichdi and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.
Ironically titled ‘The Last Supper’, the last episode of the web show follows Pallavi’s health scare, which leaves Ramesh with a new insight and his perspective on life completely renewed. He agrees with Tisca and Sanju’s plans to move out despite the young couple having changed their minds and wanting to stay with the family. Acknowledging that through all the banality of life, he and Pallavi have completely been caught up with tending to their children and grandson, Aryan, which has barely left them room to cultivate their hobbies and life outside the family.
This heartening epiphany is followed by the entire family planning a surprise party for Hemlata and Mansukh’s 60th wedding anniversary. For the celebration, the Dholakias head out to a banquet in a mall. All the happy-go-lucky moments are turned upside down as terrorists take over the place and initiate a lockdown.
Happy Family Conditions Apply Season 1 Ending Explained
What Happened After the Dholakias Were Trapped Inside the Banquet?
Firstly, they tried their best to communicate with Kanakavalli and get her to safety, or at least reunite with them, as she’d been cornered at a different location in the mall. Sanju and Jackie decide to head out and help her. Ramesh and Pallavi start fearing for their son’s life and completely fall back on Jackie to look after him, which leaves them with unprecedented hope and some time. However, just as they’re ready to move out, Kanakkavali makes it back to the banquet safely.
The terrorists reach the banquet, too, after some time, and start snooping for people to take in. While the rest of them get distracted elsewhere and eventually leave, one locates the family’s hiding spot. They take Jatin Kumar and Hemlata as their hostages for ransom and record a video to send to the authorities. Meanwhile, Hemlata keeps hinting at them to kill Jatin first as per the family’s usual dislike for him.
With their lives being put on a timer, the Dholakias are left with the final ten minutes of their lives as the terrorists leave them and the authorities with an ultimatum. The remaining time is spent playing a game of spin the bottle as each takes turns to disclose the deepest secrets of their lives.
What All Secrets are Disclosed?
Mansukh starts off the countdown by opening up about Suresh’s adoption. After that, Jatin Kumar takes over to reveal that Falguni is actually his second wife, but he is cross-conned by her once she spills the truth about her having made him sign over his property and wealth to her unknowingly. The Dholakias applaud their daughter for achieving this feat.
This takes us to Pallavi speaking the truth about her being a pescatarian and not a vegetarian, which shocks Hemlata. Each turn kills more time on the clock, and Mansukh pushes Sanjuoy to speak his truth before it’s too late. Addressing Tisca this time, he takes Jackie’s hand in his hand and reveals the truth about their relationship, which seemingly had ended some time ago.
However, his feelings for Jackie are out in the open and Tisca feels cheated. At the same time, the rest of the party is equally stunned to speak his mind during his turn in the game of Truth and more Truths on the table. At this time, with the rest of the gathering left speechless, the timer goes off, but just in time, a task force arrives at the scene to divulge that all terrorists have been taken down.
While the family made it out alive of this life-endangering experience, with all the truths out in the open, the story is left equally open-ended, with the last scene leaving both Aryan and Kanakkavali equally confused as to what will follow. Each character chases down the other after considering all these revelations, and the first season concludes with us waiting for more answers despite all that had been outed earlier.
No satisfaction is brought to us regarding whether the family accepts Sanju’s reality or not. However, Tisca is heartbroken as this revelation changes everything she knows about her marriage with Sanju. Hopefully, the second season is picked up to resolve these issues and bring them their respective happy endings.
