Green Mothers’ Club (그린마더스클럽) is a Korean drama TV series directed Ra Ha-na and starring Lee Yo-won, Choo Ja-hyun, Kim Gyu-ri, Jang Hye-jin and Joo Min-kyung, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes and Green Mothers Club episode 2 is titled Adults Don’t Make Friends Without Motives and has a runtime of 66 minutes.

Green Mothers Club Episode 2 Recap
Green Mothers Club episode 2 starts with Eun-pyo meeting Luis sometime in the past in front of the gorgeous Eiffel Tower. As the frequency of their meetings increases, so does the intimacy and it’s pretty clear that these two had something very deep going on at one point. However, all that comes crashing down when Jin-ha comes into her life again one fine day and everything changes. Luis, apparently, starts dating Jin-ha!
Back to the present though, Eun-pyo wakes up in the hospital and wakes up to find Luis sitting with her son. As he drops her off at home, Chun-hui sees them and smirks. As she comes home, she finds her husband home and is annoyed when he comes back in the evening to ask her to feed him and enquire about his boxers. Eun-pyo is clearly not getting the companionship that she should be getting from her husband and there is some discord, at least from her side.
The next day, the guardians get to school to check out their children’s drawings and listen in on their lectures. After an awkward moment in front of all the moms where Jin-ha acts all chummy with Eun-pyo, the latter grows even more anxious when Dong-seok disrupts the class. Either way, it’s so awkward later on in the classroom when the moms start to compete against each other to become the class representative.
It’s brutal, it’s silly and it’s extremely uncomfortable to watch. Eun-pyo, too, seems to be having a hard time sitting among adults who refuse to be anything but childish. A short disagreement with her husband later, she joins a club with Young-mi and her cohorts but runs away after an uncomfortable conversation with the club’s leader. Meanwhile, Jin-ha continues to try to get in touch with Eun-pyo but isn’t successful.
The next day, Eun-pyo tries to make Dong-seok sit down to study but, frustratingly, is unsuccessful and relents when her younger son begs her to take them out to play. As the kids play, glass starts to fall from the sky on the playground. Although the kids are safe at first, Yu-bin runs towards her hairband that she left behind but thanks to Eun-pyo’s quick thinking, Yu-bin is saved from being hit on the head by another falling glass.
As Chun-hui hears of the mess, she rushes back home and stitches up Eun-pyo for saving her daughter. She further tells her to forget about the cost of the violin. When Eun-pyo insists, Chun-hui asks her to buy her a couple of cups of coffee, much to her embarrassment. Although it seems to be somewhat forgotten, Eun-pyo keeps thinking about the incident and while sneaking around in the complex finds Chun-hui arguing with Young-mi. She almost runs off but Chun-hui catches her just as she has almost committed the perfect crime.
Either way, without any information about tutors and unable to make Dong-seok study, Eun-pyo seems lost. However, she is left extremely uncomfortable when she is invited to Jin-ha’s home, along with Chun-hui and Yu-ju. At her place, the conversation is just so awkward and all about Eun-pyo’s doctorate. I don’t understand hazing her in front of everyone, considering Jin-ha refuses to take the social cues and just stop. At this point, she just seems full of hate.
On her way to the bathroom, Eun-pyo stumbles into Jin-ha’s art room and goes back to the time in their childhood when the difference in their social status was apparent. Back in the present, Eun-pyo blows off Jin-ha’s warning regarding Chun-hui but finds her children being left out of movie time that the other kids are enjoying – thanks to them not knowing English. As she’s completing laundry, Jin-ha visits her and gives her a scarf that she puts around Eun-pyo’s neck – all the while Eun-pyo just… sits there without any reaction.
The anger burst out of Eun-pyo as Jin-ha goes home. She confronts her on the pathway and accuses her of taking advantage of her emotionally and picking on people’s sore spots. However, the discussion doesn’t go on for too long before both women slap each other – all the while Chun-hui watches on from behind a tree.
Green Mothers Club Episode 2 Review
What the hell did I just watch? Bickering moms is one thing, but watching adults behave worse than children is a completely different ball game. I am all for watching drama but there’s something so inherently annoying about watching parents behave this way that just gets under your skin! Green Mothers Club episode 2 isn’t something that will keep you on your toes. If anything, it’s somewhat of a dull watch. However, there are moments that will jolt you awake, like the slap scene or the very uncomfortable scene with the PTA meeting.
The slap was the most shocking but expected part of the series. Although it hints at a lot of secrets and mysteries and tries to throw everyone’s dirty laundry out in the open, there’s something missing in these episodes that I hope they bring forth. Of course, we get a hint of what’s going on with Eun-pyo, but I am interested to watch as to whether it’s just that or whether there’s more to it. It seems like Jin-ha doesn’t have a good relationship with her own mother and I wonder if that has anything to do with her daughter’s relationship with her friend.
Of course, it’s not like Eun-pyo is without faults. Although you do sympathise with her struggles, the fact that she’s jealous of Jin-ha and how good her son is at school doesn’t go unnoticed. But the best thing, personally, about the series till now are the performances. All the moms are just so believable in their roles that you’d want to tear your hair out and shake them! And that requires amazing performances from all the actors involved.
Either way, the show hasn’t reached its potential quite yet but I really do want it to, soon!
