Great Expectations Episode 1 and 2 are out and so are the reactions about the latest FX on Hulu show! The period drama is from Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight and is based on the classic by Charles Dickens of the same name. The production companies involved are Scott Free Productions, Hardy Baker & Son, BBC Studios and FXP.
The main characters in the series include Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham, Fionn Whitehead as Pip and Shalom Brune-Franklin as Estella. Alongside them, we have Ashley Thomas as Jaggers, Johnny Harris as Magwitch, Hayley Squires as Sara, Owen McDonnell as Joe, Trystan Gravelle as Compeyson and Matt Berry as Mr. Pumblechook. The released episodes of the show are directed by Brady Hood. The runtime for the episodes is approximately 50 to 60 minutes.
The first episodes of the show really just focused on bringing the main characters like Pip, Miss Havisham, Estella, Magwitch and others into play with a dark and gritty texture. With whatever storyline has unfolded, Twitter is, of course, loaded with opinions and appreciation.

One of the viewers wrote on Twitter: “Great expectations fantastic opening episode. Olivia Coleman’s Miss Havisham is possibly the creepiest to date. As for people complaining about people of colour being in Victorian England as not being factual..Read a history book!” On the film side, however, we have another tweet that goes: “Had a conversation with my Mum about #GreatExpectations as as expected, it has so many inaccuracies, flaws and general poor adaptions in only episode 1 that I think that’s about as much as we can handle. Such a shame as I could have been marvellous.”
So, it is common to wonder right now, where Twitter stand with this latest BBC series. Well, it would be safe to say that most of the people out there are impressed and, only a few are disappointed. Let us have a look down below at reactions concerning the first two episodes of Hulu’s Great Expectations.
