Good Luck Jerry Review: Plot Summary
In the Disney Plus Hotstar Multiplex movie Good Luck Jerry, we meet Jerry (Janhvi Kapoor), her younger sister Cherry (Samta Sudiksha) and her mother (played by Mita Vashisht), living in Delhi. Jerry’s father passed away when she was very young. Her mother starts selling momos to earn money. When Jerry and Cherry’s mother is diagnosed with cancer, Jerry chooses a dark route to earn fast money for the treatment.
Janhvi starts working for a drug dealer named Timmy (Jaswant Singh Dalal). She is assigned the task of taking drugs from Delhi to Punjab. Jerry is a simple, lower middle-class girl, and no police officer will suspect her of carrying drugs. So Timmy agrees to give her the job. But doing an illegal business has consequences, and the movie’s characters, including Jerry, have to face them.
Will Jerry get caught, or will she save enough money to save her mother? We find out the answers in the end.

Good Luck Jerry Review: Discussion and Performances
The credits in the beginning roll with an animation of how Jerry’s family came to Delhi when she was just a baby. It serves as a background of the lead character, giving us an idea of why her family’s financial condition isn’t good. But brace yourself while watching the first one hour because they are filled with some uncomfortable scenes.
From a scary momos-making scene to a disgusting phone call conversation, the movie makes you flinch and laugh ironically at the same time. Sidharth Sen and Pankaj Matta have added comedy to the story with fun dialogues and some hilarious scenes.
In the first half, we also meet obsessed lovers of Jerry and Cherry. Deepak Dobriyal’s Rinku, a man with no sense of boundaries, is highly obsessed with Jerry. At first, I thought his character was a part of the story only to add silliness. But the makers have used his potential in the best way in the last one hour. There’s enough fun, discomfort, drama and crime pack in the first hour to keep watching the movie.
In one of the most shocking sequences, we see the transition of a simple, scared Jerry to a heartless one. But she still has that innocence on her face. The story gets intriguing, more fun and complicated from here onwards. All the drama and twists bring us to the movie’s third act. The entire climax sequence has a lot of action, chasing, guns, fights, some absurdity and many deaths.

The last one hour of the movie feels disconnected from the plot for some time until we reach the climax. The makers filled the pre-climax scenes with lots of comedy. Sometimes the scenes make you laugh. At times, they feel forced. But not even once do you get bored. In the end, you will find yourself saying, ‘Wtf was this? It’s crazy, and I had fun watching it”.
Coming to performances, Janhvi Kapoor’s Jerry is a woman of few words and many motives. Kapoor gives a good performance. But sometimes, her accent reminded me of her Dhadak accent. The ensemble cast adds entertainment to Good Luck Jerry throughout.
Actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sahil Mehta and Mita Vashisht are the true entertainers in Siddharth Sen-directorial. They make you laugh and also annoy you sometimes. My most favourite performance is by actor Sahil Mehta. He’s a riot and makes you laugh with his aggressively hilarious personality.
For an outlandish story like this, the music has to be quirky. Parag Chhabra’s songs and Aman Pant’s background score add more weirdness to the movie. The song Mor Mor and a rap called Snake Bite, in the end, are pure madness.
Good Luck Jerry Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Janhvi Kapoor starrer is freakishly entertaining with an ensemble cast that will amuse you with their performances. Even if the second half is shaky, the climax is unpredictable and enjoyable. The momos-making scene is going to haunt me for months!
The movie is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
