García! Episode 6 Review: Final Showdown of the Super Spies

García! Episode 6 concludes the first chapter of the revolt from the 20th-century super spy, in an epic finale fight. It is directed by Spanish director Eugenio Mira and written by Sara Antuña and Carlos de Pando. Moreover, the series stars Francisco Ortiz in the titular role.

The rest of the cast includes Veki Velilla as Antonia, Daniel Freire as Neffenberg, Francisco Reyes, Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, Silvia Abascal, Lola Herrera, Nico Romero, Helio Pedregal, Mario Pardo, Miki Molina, Marina Gatell and Pepe Ocio. Furthermore, Unax Mendia serves as the director of photography.

García! Finale starts with the ambush of the previous episode, which left the super spy presumably dead (while protecting Antonia). And blocked all hope for a spectacular showdown between the two arch-nemesis. Notably, the corrupt partner Ortiz learns that his deal with the devil has not only compromised the protagonist but also risked her own daughter’s life.

Therefore, the director of section nine decides to bring Garcia back to life, and secure her teenage daughter from the hands of his enemies. In this process of redemption, he is successful in infusing life into the super spy, for one last battle.  What follows next is a high-profile car chase and a lethal combat setup.

The best part of the finale episode was the much-awaited face-off between Garcia and arch nemesis. In fact, the sheer volume of revenge that was growing inside the super spy was released with all the intensity, in this epic showdown.

The entire episode is dynamic and filled with multiple action sequences (exactly how finale moments should be) along with a final face-off between the two superhumans. The episode also witnesses the resurrection of a former fascist turned cult leader, which adds an enigmatic twist to the series.

All in all, García! Season finale was exactly how I imagined it to be. Even though there is a layer of predictability that comes with hardcore action series, the major part of the thrill comes from experience, not expectations. This is why this Spanish show excels in all the ratios.

Throughout the show, I was in complete awe of its production quality and top-notch cinematography. Furthermore, the kind of efforts that went into producing a realistic outlook, has definitely paid off in the span of a total of six episodes. Although the part where they referenced the dictatorship, is small and adjusted, the execution is meticulously crafted.

The series definitely deserved more episodes to completely wrap the story, and a couple of more additions could have really benefited the story. Which is my only complaint about this otherwise brilliant series. However, the enigmatic ending definitely hints towards more super spy action in the future.

The Spanish series exceeded all my expectations and turned out to be a masterclass in hand-to-hand combat and pitch-perfect production. Right from episode one, the series was robust in its approach and never failed once to wander away from the USP. Therefore, if you are on the lookout for a gritty and political action drama, then this Spanish show is a must-watch.
