Forget You Not Review: In this inspirational drama series, Cheng Le-le juggles the many difficulties of her mundane life – her stand-up comedy aspirations, her conventional day job and her marital problems. However, when her father is diagnosed with a difficult disease, she goes on a journey of self-discovery and heals her family bonds.

Forget You Not Review
If you’re mentally exhausted from watching a ton of thrillers, horrors, action and adventure content this week and are in need of something mundane and relatable to watch, Forget You Not, on Netflix, might just be up your alley. Following Cheng Le-le, a woman who is facing a lot of mundane problems in her life, we find ourselves through Le-le in mysterious ways.
She’s a character who is like a lot of us – beaten down by life but still fighting to stay afloat, desperate for something more but unable to put her fingers on what. She is an everyday woman who is trying to survive and learning along the way. Her ups and downs feel familiar and comforting and your heart melts for her struggles because somewhere you were also at her place.

This drama is for anyone who needs something light and warm, something to cry to maybe. Le-le’s life feels extremely familiar and thus it touches our hearts in ways one couldn’t imagine. There are moments where I couldn’t control my emotions. Every time Le-le has a dismissive or sarcastic moment with her father feels so personal, especially because of what she learns later on in the series. Our parents’ lives are just so short in comparison to yours; you blink and somehow they have gray hairs and walk a little bit slower.
The series showcases that change so heartbreakingly well. It’s not trying to make us cry, to its merit, but the way it showcases these realities of life won’t get by without bring out a few tears. In that sense, it’s a beautifully made show, one whose storyline flows so naturally that the episodes just pass by on their own. From her changing friendship dynamics with her two best friends to her relationship with her husband and her father, these small moments turn out so significant that it’s hard to not find your heart hurting.

Dealing with happiness and what it means to live a fulfilled life, Forget You Not is all of our stories, bringing forth how we choose to remember and forget certain things in our lives as well as how many things that are happening all around us miss our glances everyday. The adueince remains the sole observer taking all of these different things into account, understanding the characters and their motivations and lamenting at the crumbling relationships thanks to misunderstandings. What if they opened up about it more? is a question I asked myself a lot and it’s heartbreaking to find relatability there.
Meanwhile, there’s also a lot to feel happy about – contrary to what I have been writing, the series has happier moments as well. Chin Han plays Le-le’s father Cheng Kuang-chi, someone whom you might find nonchalant and forgetful on the surface but whose loneliness and warmth shines through in every scene. He’s fantastic in his role, and the story is driven by him although its protagonist is Le-le. Hsieh Ying-hsuan is fantastic as well and is so warm and kind-hearted that you understand her predicaments right away.
Final Thoughts

This isn’t an easy show, and is one that really brings out a lot of emotions if you look deeper into it. The series got me good and it’s definitely a memorable watch. It’s not without its faults and I found the timeline a little confusing, but all in all, drama lovers will surely have a great time.
