Final Destination: Bloodlines Review: In this sequel to the fan-favourite Final Destination franchise, we follow Stefani Reyes, a college student who is plagued by visions of her grandmother Iris’s horrifying death years ago in a freak accident that killed hundreds of people. Desperate to find the truth, she finds her estranged grandmother in a rundown shack and starts a chain of horrifying accidents that threaten to take away everything that she holds dear.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Review
There is nothing more horrifying than walking into the sixth sequel of one of my most favourite and most impactful film franchises and not knowing what to expect. And, surprisingly enough, Final Destination: Bloodlines is a film that scratches the itch that only this franchise knows how and in ways that I did not know I wanted in the first place.
Following an entirely new set of characters as always, the series gives birth to many shocking theories that one might cook up once the end credits roll, leaving a demented smile on their face. Surprisingly enough, this one can hint at every other previous film while also subconsciously (or consciously) linking all of them together with one twisted string.

However, let’s be honest, we are not here for the plot (which I will get to in a moment) – we are here for the gnarly kills, which this film has plenty of. They are gory, they are insane, and they are thoroughly enjoyable in every moment. Heads are chopped off, people are cut in half, and human beings fall from the sky like rain. It also brings our biggest terror to reality and dares to kill people with logs. Final Destination: Bloodlines has it all and somehow does it great.
The story doesn’t seem over-the-top or pedantic and, in fact, fits right into the overall narrative, even introducing the bloodlines portion to add something new. And that works too! The last few films of the franchise have been anything but enjoyable. If anything, they felt like repetitions of the same thing. However, the sixth entry has a solid story with surprising emotional beats that will draw you into the story.

The characters are believable, and there’s a great deal of humour that works for the story’s success. Do I wish to change anything about this film? Honestly, no. And although this doesn’t mean that it’s a perfect film, it’s damn entertaining and has great repeat value. Every kill is thought out quite well, playing with our pain points and leaving us squirming in our seats. And it gives birth to even more traumatic horrors that we will take with us in our lives.
The film is also impactful because of its fantastic performances. Kaitlyn Santa Juana is great as Stefani, she’s our protagonist and has a madness in her eyes that is required when coming to terms with the fact that Death is after you. Everyone else is great too, especially Richard Harmon and Owen Patrick Joyner, who are both hilarious as Erik and Bobby. However, my favourite is almost final girl Brec Bassinger, who is fantastic in the premonition sequence.
Final Thoughts

As is apparent, I loved Final Destination: Bloodlines. This is the bar that other sequels should wish to meet, if not overcome. It’s funny, it’s gnarly and is entertaining as hell – everything that we wish to see every time from this franchise!
