I am profoundly confused after watching this episode for a myriad of reasons. I also don’t know if I liked it or disliked it at its core. To say that I was surprised by this episode would be an understatement. A ton of progression happened in the penultimate episode of Fena: Pirate Princess. Let’s unravel it all bit by bit while trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible.

From the outside, the plot of Fena Pirate Princess Episode 11 was a perfectly natural progression to the events of earlier episodes. However, when you look at the events with a magnifying glass, all you get is confusion and befuddlement. You ask yourself, how could any of this be possible? What does any of this mean? What is Eden? What is Fena’s relationship with it? What is Helana’s? Why is there all this gold at Eden, and was it Noah’s Arc we just saw? Where is Kai, and why did the show mention him if it never intended to feature him in the story?

Abel vs yukimaru

As if any of that wasn’t enough, this episode also has a “twist” at the end that forces you to rethink the little you already do know about the show. They say the journey is more important than the destination, but the destination is already here, and I feel like I’m still on a ride. The worst part about it is that I can’t properly talk about it until next week, and the show might just answer all these questions by then, I don’t believe that to be likely, but it lies within the realm of possibility.

What vexes me even more is that the one character who didn’t click with me that well was the only one who got a conclusion in Fena Pirate Princess Episode 11. The conclusion didn’t even make any semblance of thematic sense, as is now usual for Fena: Pirate Princess. I guess this is a problem with watching these shows weekly. Now I will have to wait before deciding if any of these feelings are actually valid or just a massive overreaction to uncertainty.

Putting all of that to the side, the actual content of the episode was decent. The Goblin Knights again proved their strength in a fun action scene, and the final confrontation between Abel, Fena, and Yukimaru was very well done, with Abel looking more and more like a deranged freak in every frame. The result of that fight was a little silly, but we’ll talk about that in the next section. Overall, I’m still so, so confused.

Fena Pirate Princess Episode 11 Review- Art and Music

On the one hand, Fena: Pirate Princess is untouchable in both of these aspects of production. This, in turn, leads to every episode looking as good as the last and thus not having much to talk about every time. I could just name everything that I loved that the artists drew. On the other hand, where’s the fun in that? Instead, let’s talk about the periodic action scenes the show has and how they felt in Fena Pirate Princess Episode 11.

The action scenes are animated very fluidly and look fantastic to watch whenever they come on our screens, but they at times look so effortless that the characters feel dumb for not relying on their fighting skills so much. If you’re thinking, “just kill them, I know you can do it”, in every scene featuring the Goblin Knights (because they are just that strong), there isn’t a lot of tension in that scene.

Verdict

While there wasn’t inherently wrong about Fena Pirate Princess Episode 11, I can’t say I particularly enjoyed the direction the show went in or the destination that it reached. Above all, I am just so confused about everything. For once, it doesn’t seem like it is my fault.
