Elite Season 6 Review: Did Someone Write the Series With Prediction Text? Because It Doesn’t Make Sense!

Netflix Spanish teenage erotic thriller Elite Season 6 stars Valentina Zenere as Isadora Artiñán, André Lamoglia as Iván Carvalho, Martina Cariddi as Mencía Blanco Commerford, Carla Díaz as Ariadna “Ari” Blanco Commerford, Manuel aka Manu Ríos as Patrick Blanco Commerford, Diego Martín as Benjamín Blanco, Carloto Cotta as Cruz Carvalho, Adam Nourou as Bilal Ibrahim, Carmen Arrufat as Sara, Álex Pastrana as Raúl, Álvaro de Juana as Dídac, Ander Puig as Nico, Ana Bokesa as Rocío, and Nadia Al Saidi as Sonia.

The series is created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona. The current season 6 8 episodes of 45-50 minutes each. The synopsis reads, “Everybody’s looking for something this year at Las Encinas, whether it’s love, revenge or millions of followers. But will they all make it out alive?”

Netflix’s wildly popular show Elite is back with season 6 with a “new dish” made up of similar but with some fresh ingredients. Along with some old characters from the previous season, Las Encinas now has a new Principal, and new kids but the same old, stale messy love affairs and scandals.

Elite Season 5 ends with Samuel’s death. Ari, Mencía and Patrick’s father, Benjamín, is in prison as he was the reason Samuel died. In the latest season, Ari deals with her lover’s death, Mencía is single, and Patrick has a complicated relationship with Ivan and his father. Isadora is seeking justice after being drugged and raped in the fifth season. Nico, a trans character, wants to undergo hormone surgery.

If there’s one word to describe Elite Season 6, it would be unbearable! The series tries to be “woke” by focusing on subjects like rape, transphobia, racism towards black people and physical abuse in a relationship. However, every issue the makers highlight is very on the surface. The characters just have futile conversations without ever going deep about why things are happening in a certain way.

Elite Season 6 Still 1

For example, Nico calls out Ari for being transphobic and talking about who’s normal and who is not. However, in almost every scene with Nico, the makers want to remind us that he’s a trans character. They never give us a chance to see him as a normal person. Similarly, the treatment of Isadora’s rape case is very poorly handled. Amid the typical teenage thriller premise, the makers have thrown scenes to highlight such “burning” issues. How should a viewer take the characters and their problems seriously if the makers don’t?

Like its previous seasons, Elite 6 on Netflix is filled with many parties, drinking and sex scenes. They try to highlight the entire LGBTQ issue with Ivan’s dad Cruz’s character. But that’s again just for the sake of it. Not even once any character or any issue tackled in the show try to build a connection or emotionally impact us. There are 2 new Black characters, and just like Nico, we are constantly reminded of their race. It completely negates the wokeness the makers wanted to add to the show.

Even this time, the high school kids do everything except study. They all are wealthy, dress up like every day’s a fashion show and party every night, and are confused about who they want to be with. In the end, the writers try to link together all the mess and give an ending that will help us focus on the stories of new characters. It’s a build-up for season 7. This is done by giving a “conclusion” to the Commerford family. It’s a weak ending.

Elite Season 6 Still 2

Coming to performances, the actor seemed to have lots of fun playing teenagers who dance, sleep around and pretend to care about social issues. Everyone, as usual, looked hot on the series and did whatever the script demanded.

Elite Season 6 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, the new season of Elite on Netflix has some new faces but the same old drama, complicated love affairs and sex scandals. The makers tried to be woke but only to not get accused of duplicating all their 5 seasons entirely. At this point, I think the makers are writing the series while using prediction text.

  1. So sick of the woke dictatorship, main characters are women, lgtbi, trans, and black. White straight are in prison or not relevant. This is not inclusion, this is not diversity, this is not balance. I watched the whole series, only watched 7min of the last season, and I am never coming back.
