Dragon Age Absolution Ending Explained
The last episode titled, The Price of Salvation sheds light on various characters and their links with others present on the scene. Fairbanks was believed to be the traitor all along, especially since his fight with Hira for the Circulum in the initial episodes. However, all speculations are turned on their head when the truth is revealed in the final episode.
Hira finds the Circulum hidden by her team mates, but they eventually catch up to her, not knowing that she’s already taken it. Eventually, Miriam sees it inside her satchel, which leads Hira to claim that it seems unsafe to leave it behind, especially with Rezaren ready to ransack the whole place to find its whereabouts. She lies about him being on to her about the safe house location, and her team starts seeing through her and Miriam asks for it.

When Hira looks unwilling to return it, Miriam catches on and realises that she’d always meant to steal it, which led Fairbanks to trap her but she killed him to cover her tracks. Later, she gives her explanation for the same. Ever since her escape from the Venatori, she felt helpless, but finally found hope on hearing about the Inquisition, where people regardless of their race would come together under the Herald of Andraste to rid the world of its problems. All her hopes were shattered when she found out that the supposed ‘pure force’ willing to stand up to all evils wasn’t going to fight off Tevinter.
She turned her aim elsewhere after having sought an alliance with the Crimson Knight, who was more than accepting of the cause and ready to burn Tevinter to the ground. In order to complete the mission, they needed the Circulum, yet she couldn’t just let The Divine trail them. Therefore, she struck a deal with Rezaren, who then moved the Circulum to the palace since he too needed it for a ritual, later to be revealed as the rebirth of Miriam’s brother, Neb.

The only reason Rezaren agreed to turn against his nation was because Hira offered Miriam as leverage. Miri gets the chase that Hira never needed her help to find the artefact, rather she brought her along to sell her back to Rezaren. The infamous Magister cuts the discussion short and brings in the dragon to reign terror, passing the order to kill everyone but Miriam because he needed her for the ritual. He initiates the same by merging his, Miriam, the dragon and Neb’s blood and puts the Circulum to use to bring the original Neb back to life in the synthetic body of the former creature, manipulated by his powers.
To his avail, Neb’s spirit is summoned but Miriam guides him against donning his former body but he assures her. Walking up to the body, the spirit eliminates the body, while the other squad members work out their plan to bring the ritual to an explosive end. Rezaren is put to rest as Miriam kills him, asserting her agency and autonomy. Qwydion, on the other hand, finds a way to calm the dragon down and frees it as well.
When all is over, Hira tricks Miriam again, and retrieves the Circulum from her. The team comes up with a new plan to destroy the relic for good and follow Hira. Back at the Crimson Knights’ headquarters, a new antagonist awaits the heroes and is willing to eliminate everyone who walks in as a hindrance in her plan of getting her hands on the Circulum.
