Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 1 Recap
The opening episode of the new season plunges us straight into the middle of the ocean, where Senku and his crew are navigating their way to America. Their ultimate mission is to reach the moon, as they suspect the individual responsible for petrifying humanity may reside there. However, this ambitious goal requires significant resources, which is why their first destination is America.
However, a major conflict arises between the two leaders. This debate reflects their differing priorities. Ryusui is concerned about the strain on the crew and the difficulty of steering along the curved path. Meanwhile, Senku emphasizes the urgency of their mission. He explains that if they take the longer route, the corn they need to harvest for alcohol will spoil in the winter, delaying their plans for an entire year. For the plan to work, they must reach their goal within 40 days.

When neither side can agree, they decide to settle the matter with a poker match, a solution that guarantees both a winner and a loser without resorting to physical conflict.

Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 2 Review And Recap

The criticisms I had with the first episode, with it being less about science and more about other things, are solved in this episode. This starts with Senku making alcohol in the current Stone Age with the help of nothing but Wheat. It is an ancient Egyptian technology where they would make beer by roasting soaked wheat, and then use fermentation to turn it into alcohol. This becomes a huge hit amongst the crew members, but those who opt not to get drunk also get their choice of mocktails thanks to Francois.

Here, we also see how Senku managed to make Gum syrup with very questionable ingredients, mainly poisons like sulfuric acid and barium carbonate. The ability of Senku to utilize science and make anything is astounding and impressive every time we see it.
We also get to know about the dead master that Matsukaze keeps referring to and witness the uncanny resemblance he had with Kinro. Another very important character takes his enters the scene, who is none other than Hyoga, but he also comes with his own conditions in exchange for helping the crew.

Senku and others would need more strong fighters as they do not know who their enemies are yet. Hence, Hyoga is an important ally and if he trains Matsukaze then it will be even better for their upcoming mission. However, the most impressive aspect of Senku’s genius is when he skillfully deduces their exact location with the help of time that Ruri sends occasionally. But what will happen if the sun does not come up and the weather is cloudy and stormy? Well, they go through that experience as well, and how they manage to keep their calm is something you’ll have to find out yourself.
Verdict

I absolutely loved today’s episode and felt the same kind of excitement that the previous seasons of Dr Stone have provided. This anime truly makes science interesting by giving us information in a way even someone with no science knowledge will be able to understand. Right now, Senku and his team are venturing into a foreign land, and I’m sure the next time we see them, it will be in America.
