Don’t Move Review
The movie begins with a grieving mother who has recently lost her child and goes to the place of his death to end her life. However, the appearance of a young man changes her plans as she begins to see value in living. Unknown to her, this man has plans of his own that will terrorise her for life. He kidnaps her for a weekend of so-called “fun” before killing her, she is hell-bent on not dying this way.
The film is a psychological thriller that pulls you in with its beautiful direction. The cinematography is top-notch and can ignite feelings of fear, making your heart pump fast. The actors also put on a wonderful performance as they pull you into the film with ease and make you feel the emotions taking place in the various scenes. This is especially so for the main leads- Kelsey Asbille and Finn Wittrock who have brought out every essence of their characters to the finest.

Asbille’s fears and desperation display marvelous emotions when put in such scenes while Wittrock’s equally wonderful madness leaves you shell-shocked in more than one place. The two actors have performed their characters so beautifully that they can instil emotions within you.
But while the actors and the director leave us amazed, the script seems a bit lacking. There is always this feeling of lacking within the plot designed for the film, and this is especially so towards the end. It almost feels incomplete which in turn leaves you with a feeling of annoyance. This feeling in a way destroys the overall experience and makes you wonder what even happened.

While the characters are wonderfully written, the plot is what leaves you questioning. Speaking about the characters, I have to say that the duality of humans is so intriguingly conveyed that it makes you think about how easily a person can change. The shifting personalities of Richard (or Andrew), and the wish to die within Iris make you put on your thinking caps as you witness this shift that takes place in a matter of hours.
Summing Up

Overall, the film is worth the watch for the characters, the actors, and the cinematography, but not the ending. The experience is thrilling and will take you to the scene, but the plot can be a letdown in many ways. So if you know you can handle a bad ending, then give this film a shot.
Watch Don’t Move on Netflix.
