Divorce Attorney Shin Episode 9 follows the case of Ma Chun-seok and his wife and attorney Choi Jun first case by himself. While there are some victories, there’s some violence as well.
The cast of the series includes Cho Seung-woo as Shin Sung-han, Han Hye-jin as Lee Seo-jin, Kim Sung-kyun as Jang Hyeong-geun, Jung Moon-sung as Jo Jeong-sik, Kang Mal-geum as Kim So-yeon, Jeon Bae-soo as Park Yu-seok, Han Eun-seong as Choi June, Cha Hwa-yeon as Ma Geum-hee, and Noh Susanna as Jin Young-joo among others.

The episode starts with the case of Ma Chun-seok and his Vietnamese wife Dinh Thi Hoa, who claims to be physically assaulted by him and wants a divorce. During the trial Park Yu-seok put up the points that the wife came to South Korea for a good life but the husband has a big land & she has to work on the farms all day.
Shin Sung-han rebuttals it by actually calculating the amount of time she did the work in a year & how she doesn’t have any other responsibilities as her mother-in-law cares for the child among other things. We then reach the point which we saw in the last episode, where Sung-han questions if the child is even his or not.
When Yu-seok comments that they can’t just ask for a paternity test based on some assumptions, Sung-han pulls out the blood result of the husband. Chun-seok has blood type B while the child has blood type A & Dinh has blood type O since the father doesn’t have blood type A or AB – it rules out the kid is his.
The wife somehow accepts the truth about the kid not being his & puts up her guilt as one of the reasons for divorce. Park Yu-seok then put out the argument that the main reason for this case is the husband’s violence. On which Sung-han asks the wife to tell the events of the day when she got hit on her arm since there was nobody else who witnessed it.

We get to see how her boyfriend deliberately hit her with a baseball bat, so she could fake the injury and then comments that Chun-seok, hit her with his right hand. But according to his medical records, he has been getting treated for a frozen shoulder for almost a year and that would be impossible for him to hit with that hand.
With this, the case comes to an end with Sung-han’s win and we get to know that Chun-seok actually buys an apartment for his wife to live peacefully but she comes back to mend their relationship. The lost case however proves heavy for Park Yu-seok who gets threatened by Jin Yeong-ju, that he will be removed from the firm if he didn’t bring Sung-han down soon.
Meanwhile, Choi Jun and Lee Seo-jin try to research the case of Park Yeong-tae and his wife who suffers from schizophrenia. On the field, Seo-jin feels anxious to meet new people, fearing all they will talk and remember about is her leaked video. She goes away from the assignment by making an excuse, however, Jun does find some good evidence that will help his case.
He gets to know that Yeong-tae actually joined a schizophrenia support group even before meeting and getting to know his wife. In fact, at the support group, he claimed that his sister was suffering from it instead. Added the video from the hospital where the husband is seen laughing and watching a TV show while visiting the wife in the hospital, help his case completely.
But when the husband starts showing his real colours, the argument becomes heated and turns violent during the divorce mediation. On the other hand, Daenam group owner is served divorce papers by Ju-hwa’s mother-in-law and that puts Yeong-ju in a bad situation.
On a brighter note, Jang Hyeong-geun and the noodle shop owner seem to have something going on, which will only bloom in the next episodes. Also, Seo-jin tried to gather some strength and walks around freely in the public eye & stop fearing what everyone else thinks.

The episode was mostly about the cases that each attorney is currently handling, while some personal storms are yet to come with Ju-hwa’s mother-in-law’s divorce which will be handled by Shin Sung-han. With very few episodes left in the series, many more secrets will be revealed in the coming ones, which will create a clear picture of everything that happened to Ju-hwa & what was Yeong-ju’s role behind it.
