Disenchanted Trailer: Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are Living the Fairy Tale Life or Maybe Not

Disenchanted is an all-new live-action musical comedy which is the highly anticipated sequel to Enchanted film that was released in 2007. The new teaser trailer premiered at the D23 Expo 2022 in the Anaheim Convention Center. The film is directed by Adam Shankman from a screenplay by Brigitte Hales and a story by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss and Richard LaGravenese.

It will feature new songs from 8-time Oscar-winning composer, Alan Menken and three-time Oscar-winning lyricist, Stephen Schwartz. The film will reunite original cast members Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden and also stars Maya Rudolph, Gabriella Baldacchino, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays.

While the film Enchanted was about Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) from a fairy-tale world that lands in modern Manhattan after being banished by an evil queen, where music, magic and ‘happily ever after’ are sorely lacking. She is adrift in this strange new place until a divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) comes to her aid. Giselle begins to fall for her flawed benefactor, but the storybook romance gets complicated when a prince from her world comes to rescue her.

In the new sequel, we see that it has been 15 years since Giselle and Robert wed, but Giselle has grown disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a more fairy tale life. Unfortunately, it isn’t the quick fix she had hoped for. Suburbia has a whole new set of rules and a local queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), who makes Giselle feel more out of place than ever.

Frustrated that her happily ever after hasn’t been so easy to find, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help, accidentally transforming the entire town into a real-life fairy tale and placing her family’s future happiness in jeopardy. Now, Giselle is in a race against time to reverse the spell and determine what happily ever after truly means to her and her family.

It is one of the rare cases where the original cast of a film comes together for a sequel, years later. The concept also looks creative where Giselle is wishing for a fairy tale life where everyone starts acting like their archetypes and forgets that she inadvertently becomes the evil stepmother, instead of the main lead.
