Dil Dosti Aur Dogs Review
It’s very hard to dislike a movie about dogs. It’s harder to dislike a movie with a lot of dogs, which Dil Dosti Aur Dogs features. There are dogs in every scene, often multiple, and there’s not a moment when you can truly feel annoyed at whatever is going on in the background with so many canines there to make your heart happy. But even then, this JioHotstar film is a mess and a half, mostly because the storyline has no depth and is cliched as heck as well as the fact that it’s acted terribly.
The film features four different stories of love and companionship and how dogs play a part in bringing happiness into our complicated lives. Unfortunately, that’s all that I liked about this film, as there’s nothing else that truly leaves an impression. I think the terrible acting from across the board plays a major part, but that doesn’t discount the bad script either. All four stories in this feel-good venture are about some sort of broken relationship but unfortunately, there’s no depth in any of these scripts, so much so that they feel like a hollow caricature of real problems.

Whether it be Kunaal Roy Kapur and Masumeh Makhija’s marital problems surrounding a very important issue, or Ehan Bhat’s Sunny storyline that, honestly makes no sense in my mind, the film isn’t able to make an impact because the storytelling isn’t honest. The creators bring in these important topics and then don’t really focus on them well, introducing them simply as just another topic. It tries to get a reaction out of us, but honestly, it’s presented with such less honesty that you feel annoyed.
Let’s talk about the performances. From the get-go, Ehan Bhat is a nuisance who is terrible as Sunny. It feels so fake that whenever he is beside Tridha Choudhury it becomes all the more apparent. However, the entire storyline surrounding his girlfriend will give viewers a headache because she gives this Disney villain monologue for some reason that doesn’t make sense at that point in the script. The others are fine, but honestly, the story is just so half-baked that it doesn’t make a significant impact anyway. The characters are equally forgettable and have nothing going for them.
Final Thoughts

Dil Dosti Aur Dogs could’ve been a light, breezy and feel-good film but its half-baked plot and characters and some bad performances make it difficult to sit through. Loved the dogs, though.
