Dandadan Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8
Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8: Still

This episode starts off at the maid café where Momo and Okarun cross paths. The sequence had plenty of laughs, as Momo awkwardly tried to keep her composure while serving Okarun and his friends. Afterwards, Okarun offers to wait for her, though Momo refuses. Still, true to his caring nature, he stays behind anyway, and for the first time, the two share a genuine moment by holding hands as they walk together.

The episode didn’t just stop at romance; things quickly escalated on the action front. Jiji finally manages to suppress the Evil Eye within him, but when Aira accidentally spills her drink on him, he suddenly lashes out at Momo. He nearly strangles her before she manages to react and fight back just in time. The attack terrifies everyone, showing how dangerous the Evil Eye truly is. In the chaos, Okarun shoves Jiji aside to check if Momo is hurt, creating visible tension between the two.

Realizing that this clash can’t be solved as things stand, Okarun resolves to grow stronger so he can face the Evil Eye head-on. He first approaches Peeny-Weeny for help with training, only to be bluntly rejected. Luckily, Turbo Granny steps in on her own and promises to help Okarun become more powerful. Together with her and Aira, Okarun later returns to their school, where Turbo Granny begins to explain the deeper secrets behind the token’s power.

This episode again starts with the strange scenario where apparitions of reputed musicians attack Okarun and his party. Here, Turbo Granny creates a situation where Okarun will have to fight with these musicians so that he can train himself and work on his rhythm. At first, the fight goes completely one-sided as the musicians beat Okarun relentlessly. He gets hit by their musical notes, and an explosion happens everywhere. Weirdly enough, Aira does a far better job in her Acrobatic Silky form, and we see that she has a better rhythm than Okarun.

However, Okarun quickly understands his own position, and he manages to finally find his perfect rhythm and counterattacks. After this, we see an intense battle, which is comically musical but also hyped. The animation in this scene was absolutely brilliant, but it was also very ridiculous. However, Okarun finally manages to acquire 5 switches of beat and defeats his enemies. This time, he truly is ready to face off against the Evil Eye, even though there is still time for him to achieve the true power of Turbo Granny.

Needless to say, Okarun goes directly to Jiji and challenges him to a duel. If he had not done that, there was a very good chance that the band would have been summoned to get rid of the Evil Eye for good. Here, Okarun exclaims how he was pissed off when the Evil Eye tried to physically hurt Momo, and he could not do anything to protect her. This is why Okarun wants to defeat the Evil Eye properly so that he can never hurt anyone else ever again.

Today’s episode started off a bit on the anticipatory side, but it ended with a blast. I would have really preferred to see at least some fight between the Evil Eye and Okarun, but I also get their strategy to build hype. I’m definitely going to eagerly wait for the next episode because this fight is going to be insane.
