Dandadan Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 4: Still

This episode kicks off with a bang as Okarun steps in to protect Momo from the Evil Eye’s attack. He makes it clear that he won’t allow the Evil Eye to act freely, especially if it means putting Momo in danger. After ensuring her safety, Okarun urges Momo to leave so she can bring help, leading to a surprisingly heartfelt exchange between the two. Momo promises to return for both Okarun and Jiji, giving the moment a quiet emotional weight amidst the chaos. What follows is a gripping and intense showdown between Okarun and the Evil Eye that dominates the first half of the episode.

This section easily stood out as the highlight for me, as it captured the raw power and determination of both fighters. The battle was lengthy but never lost momentum, with Okarun struggling at first but eventually managing to outmatch the Evil Eye, at least temporarily. However, things take a turn for the worse as the monstrous worm continues to release toxic pollen into the air, making it nearly impossible to survive much longer in such a hazardous environment.

With time running out, Momo’s mission to get help becomes more urgent than ever as failure would mean certain death for both Okarun and Jiji.

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 4 Review

After a long time, Dandadan released an episode that reminded me of the very first episode, which was so chaotic that I got hooked on the series. This one, as well, might be a bit too much for some, but for me it was absolutely enjoyable. Things start with Momo desperately coming up with a plan to stop the volcano from destroying the village.

Here, she immediately understands the legend surrounding the village was not at all about the great serpent but the fountain that she encountered. All these times, the interpretation got warped, and this resulted in meaningless human sacrifices. However, even after realising how to stop this volcano and managing to take the situation under control, the Kito family still vehemently tries to block Momo’s efforts.

They do not understand the situation or become reasonable, and only after additional allies of Momo come to fight them do they stop being the main hindrance. Sadly, Jiji is still under the control of the evil eye, and now, he’s back to being a menace. Thankfully, this time Momo is not alone as Seiko, Mr. Mantis Shrimp, Chiquitita and Taro all come to their rescue.

This ensemble produces one of the greatest fight sequences of this anime, and I absolutely loved how the studio handled it. The animation was brilliant, and it gave a fluidity to the movements of the evil eye that looked very good. Apart from that, the moment that got shared between Momo and Okarun was hands down my favourite part of this entire episode. This anime truly knows how to handle action, drama and romance all at the same time.

Verdict

This was another banger episode that I loved. Dandadan is not afraid of being weird, and I appreciate that element. Now I’m definitely waiting for the next episode to see what will happen with the evil eye.
