Criminal Justice Season 3 Episode 8: Nothing but the Truth
In all honesty, the first six episodes of Criminal Justice Adhura Sach lacked every bit of charm and anticipation that captured the audience in the first two seasons. However, around the seventh episode, the pace really picked up as we had a fresh suspect to look at, Mahendra Awasthi, the plot owner of the place Zara was scheduled to shoot at in the first episode. We also discovered that Mukul did not really run away from the juvenile centre, eventually and is back waiting for his case to progress.
It was pretty convincing how Criminal Justice Season 3 Episode 7 wrapped up that Mahendra is very much Zara’s killer. But speculation and instinct are not what puts a culprit behind bars, which brings us to the finale, which was rather underwhelming given how strongly everyone felt about who the killer is in the seventh episode. In Criminal Justice Season 3 Episode 8, we see the tension between Lekha and Madhav Mishra rise. Lekha will do anything to win the case, and Madhav Mishra will do anything to bring the truth to light.

Lekha successfully tries to disregard the pieces of evidence and testimonies gathered by Mishra ji, who continues to strive to prove Mukul’s innocence, irrespective of the obstacles in his way. Ultimately, we get a court climax filled with confrontation, some very un-Madhav Mishra-like glamour and the revelation of who actually killed Zara Ahuja on that fateful night.
Criminal Justice Season 3 Episode 8 was a power-up when compared to the other episodes, which were rather haywire and slow-paced. The fact that the case concerns an ‘adhura sach’ has been evident from the start when Mukul was nailed as the culprit not only by the police but, the society and his own family members. However, the show, for the most part, really lacked a sense of direction and good pacing, making it uneven and uninteresting at certain times.

Even the performances by the veteran Pankaj Tripathi cannot save the show entirely. In fact, in the finale, the way Tripathi’s character conducts himself is very unlike what we are used to, and it seems overtly dramatic given the polite, kind and humorous demeanour of our favourite advocate slips to bring out some really crass statements, especially concerning suicide and mental health. But, at moments when Tripathi could not give us all, it was the cunning moves of Shweta Basu Prasad’s Lekha that kept us going.
At times, it felt like we would want to see Madhav Mishra win only for the sheer pleasure of watching how Lekha would take the ultimate fall of failing. There is a drastic character difference between what we knew the characters to be and what they are now, and maybe that amounted to a certain level of disconnect from the viewers.
Final Verdict

Overall, this season of Criminal Justice was not as impressive as one would expect it to be. Hands down, it is the first season with Vikrant Massey that still stands out the most, and the second season with Kirti Kulhari had its moments of suspense and thrill. But, the third season falls really short and given how the latest season has been marketed as Madhav Mishra’s toughest case ever, it does not really resonate with that statement in reality.
Meanwhile, you can still enjoy the show for its actors and the craft they put forward. The plot, however, is not something that will entirely keep you hooked.
