Court Kacheri Review
TVF series Court Kacheri is a warm, hopeful, and positive series about Indian law, family dynamics, and how justice is not always black and white. The show, much like others by TVF, has a lot to say while keeping us entertained with its smart dialogues and relatable situations, offering a fantastic view of a young man who comes to terms with what he actually wants to do in life and what his dreams are.
The series follows Param, a young man who feels like he has been bullied by his father into doing his bidding for as long as he can remember. He is an uninterested lawyer, but thankfully, his father is a distinguished member of the law community in their small town district court, which opens up a lot of doors for him. That, however, isn’t important because Param has seen this as a noose around his neck instead of an opportunity, as he has never understood the nuance of the justice system and how lawyers are integral to giving normal people the justice that they deserve.

The series showcases Param’s journey through a seemingly small divorce case that turns into something bigger than it should’ve been. The entire series is completely arresting as Param’s journey and the divorce case slowly become one with each other, working off one another to come to a conclusion. It’s a simple story about coming to terms with yourself and the situation you’re in and making the best of it all. There are several themes tackled here, but the biggest is following your dreams. While Suraj dreams of becoming an advocate and has spent 8 years following Harish Mathur, Param dreams of anything other than being a lawyer.
Suraj and Param’s dreams feel relevant and relatable as they overcome the obstacles in their lives. Their needs aren’t something unreachable; in fact, this might just be any one of us struggling to live how we want. Then there is Harish, whose one-track mind and prowess at his job end up overshadowing Param’s wants and needs. However, none of these people are villainous to the extent that it will make you uncomfortable. In fact, Harish’s change of attitude feels so refreshing and grounded that it reminds you of people you know. Sometimes people might get blinded by their love for you, but things work out if their hearts are in the right place.

Pavan Malhotra, Ashish Verma and Puneet Batra are fantastic and will leave you hooked to their performances. Malhotra’s charm and presence can enchant you any day, while Verma’s casual indifference and confused attitude feel far too relatable. The supporting cast is great as well, and not for a second did anyone step a toe out of bounds of their scripts and giving us exactly what the situation and their characters required.
Final Thoughts

With only five episodes to binge, Court Kacheri is a relatable, enjoyable and heartfelt watch that stays with you thanks to its grounded story that hits home. If you’re in the mood for something hard-hitting yet light, this one should be on your watchlist!
