Copenhagen Cowboy: All About Netflix’s Illusive Supernatural Revenge Tale

Copenhagen Cowboy is an upcoming supernatural series that will be released on Netflix. Created by Sara Isabella Jønsson Vedde and Nicolas Winding Refn, the Danish show centres around the character Miu, a young heroine on a journey for vengeance while travelling through the criminal world of Copenhagen. Refn directs the series and has the writing credits along with Sara Isabella Jønsson Vedde, Johanne Algren and Mona Masri.

Magnus Nordenhof Jønck is the cinematographer, and the music is given by Peter Kyed, Cliff Martinez, Peter Peter, and Julian Winding. The series will consist of six episodes with a total runtime of approximately 45-50 minutes.

Copenhagen Cowboy Cast

An ensemble of reputed Danish actors is included in the cast. Angela Bundalovic, as Miu, will be playing the series’ lead character. The remaining supporting and recurring cast includes Fleur Frilund as Jessica, Lola Corfixen as Rakel, Zlatko Burić as Miroslav, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen as Nicklas, Jason Hendil-Forssell as Chiang, Li Ii Zhang as Mother Hulda, Dragana Milutinović as Rosella. Other actors, such as Mikael Bertelsen, Mads Brügger, Ramadan Huseini and Per Thiim Thim, will also appear.

Copenhagen Cowboy Plot/Synopsis

The official Netflix description of the series reads as follows:

After a lifetime of being sold as a human good luck charm, a woman with mysterious supernatural abilities seeks revenge against those who wronged her.

Described as a noir-thriller, the plot of the series is based on the classic criminal world. Miu is a young heroine who sets out to make a name for herself in a big world but is met with unfortunate circumstances. Leaving her no choice, she decides to seek revenge on those who have wronged her. In her journey through the netherworld, she also discovers the supernatural powers that she possesses.

On her path to justice, she encounters her nemesis Rakel, who she must defeat to succeed in her mission. She also travels into her past to recognise and understand the incidents of the present. Stuck in a mesmerizing world of misery and pain, she must reign triumph to find eventual peace and freedom.

Refn’s creation of a cruel dreamlike world will be premiering on January 5, 2023, on Netflix.
