Classroom Of The Elite Season 2 Episode 12 Review- Beatdown

This episode was exhilarating. This was everything the show always should have been, and I am glad that it got to go there before this season came to an end. This was the kind of episode that made all the pain that we went through in the initial episodes worth it. The show had been building towards the payoff from the initial cruise episodes, and despite the slow and rocky paths toward this end, the payoff has been entirely fantastic. This felt like the culmination of a years-long journey, despite this season only running for three months now.

We saw Kei being taken to the Class 1-C hideout for literal torture and blackmail at the hands of Ryuuen towards the end of the previous episode. There were some very graphic depictions of waterboarding and beating a frail human up. It perfectly called back to Kei’s history with bullying and showcased what being aligned with Ayanokoji had done to her as a pawn in his plans. This episode perfectly continued that story and mixed it perfectly with the other story this season was telling.

We are, of course, talking about Ryuuen wanting to find out who the mastermind is behind the sudden resurgence of Class 1-D. His methods were ruthless and cruel, but overall highly effective. Ryuuen has been a hugely interesting antagonist throughout the show. He has been the conniving and scheming mafioso behind every loss Ayanokoji has ever suffered in this show, and you just knew that things were going to be coming to a head with the two by the end of this season. So they did, and what happened surpassed everyone’s wildest imaginations.

The confrontation between Ayanokoji and Ryuuen was just as wild and phenomenal as one could have imagined it was going to be after this long of a build-up. It perfectly encapsulated their personalities as rivals and built towards a finale befitting a show as uneven as this one. Emotions were a huge issue between the two, as one of them is known for being extremely explosive and reactive, and the other for not showcasing any at all. This episode was a meeting of the titans that was perfectly set up and hit for a home run. The result was never in doubt, which made it all the more satisfying.

The production in this episode was also stellar. The design choice to have this confrontation be in cold storage with low light was an inspired one. It made every movement and action look that much more unique and stylistic. There was a lot of action and fighting here, which was handled exceptionally smoothly by this show’s standards. It just looked fantastic, and when combined with some great music to back it up, it made the entire experience one to look out for. The season isn’t over yet, but even if it were, this would have been a fitting ending.
Verdict
Classroom Of The Elite Season 2 Episode 12 was a tremendous ending to an arc that had been built for months. It was a fitting conclusion to several characters’ arcs and one that made you excited for much more.

But this goes on to show us that Ayanokoji is more like a robot
Which isn’t bad at all, as this shows how he was raised.
