Change Days Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Mellow in the Pool

Change Days (체인지데이즈) is a Korean dating reality TV series with hosts Jang Do-yeon, Code Kunst, Yang Se-chan and Heo Young-ji. Change Days season 2 episode 5 has a runtime of 58 minutes.

The couples featured in Change Days season 2 include  Lee Jeong-hun and Choi Hui-hyeon, Kim Tae-wan and Kim Hye-yeon, Choi Yun-seul and Min Hyo-gi, and Kim Do-hyeong and Kim Ji-yu.

Netflix describes the series as:

AT A ROMANTIC GETAWAY, REAL-LIFE COUPLES ON THE BRINK OF BREAKING UP CHOOSE BETWEEN MENDING THEIR CURRENT RELATIONSHIPS OR PURSUING NEW FLAMES.

– Change Days Season 2 Episode 5 review contains mild spoilers –

It’s the day for another date on Change Days season 2 episode 5 and the flirting between the new couples is actually pretty intense! Right off the bat couples just flirt their way into each other’s hearts right in the villa and ask some desperately straightforward questions that will leave you reeling!

In between the fun and happy dates where the thrill of dating someone new, exciting and seemingly comfortable, you know the storm that is brewing at home. The more the contestants go out on these happy dates, the greater their differences with their spouses become. Because let’s be honest, how do you talk about dating someone else?

Regardless, some of the couples make just a tiny bit of progress, albeit it’s probably not in the direction we want it to. However, if you thought that these people looked good and vibed with the first partners (not the original ones), then you’re in for a whiplash!

In today’s episodes, the women choose their dates and some work magic while others, personally, are just so awkward. While some dates seem like they click in the first minute some take a little more time to get used to as a viewer because you don’t really imagine them together.

However, I must mention here that I am constantly shocked at the ease with which Hye-yeon tackles her dates. I don’t know which end of the like spectrum she falls on for me because I dislike the way she approaches her problems with Tae-wan, but still, her straightforward attitude is commendable as it, at the very least, results in things being cleared up for her.

Anyway, the discussion in Change Days season 2 episode 5 almost feels deeper than the previous episodes, which almost feels impossible. But hey, they do – it’s extremely romantic in some ways and extremely uncomfortable in others. Like, the scene at the villa between a couple is just so intimate that I almost felt bad for their original partners because you can see exactly what’s going on here. Even the hosts comment on it, and it’s a spot-on comment, to be honest.

The hosts in this episode, in particular Jang Do-yeon and Heo Young-ji, are just so giddy that it’s delightful. I know I repeat my adoration for the hosts in almost every review, but these four are really that relatable and on top of that, adorable to boot!

Apart from that, this is a rather mellow episode and without many controversies. Or maybe, after 5 episodes of Change Days, we are kind of ok with these dates. Either way, it’s not as controversial as we’d like to be but there are some very intimate and cosy moments between the first-time couples that will make you giddy. It also might (or might not) help that it is a significantly shorter episode compared to the other ones, so you know they are saving some good stuff for the next ones.

Summing Up: Change Days Season 2 Episode 5

In the end, I think Change Days episode 5 creates a good episode that we can jump off from in the next one. It’s mellow, with enough ammunition to keep it interesting and leaves us with more questions than answers. This results in us wanting to know where these couples end up at, especially with what’s coming up in the next episode.

It’s going to get hot and heavy and not in a good way and we’re here for it!
