Castlevania Nocturne Ending Explained: Castlevania Nocturne, a dark fantasy animated series based on the video game series of the same name by Korami, was released on September 28, 2023. Created and written by Clive Bradley and led by producer Kevin Kolde for Netflix, the series is a spin-off of the Castlevania animated series. The series stars Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory and others.

Powerhouse Animation Studios is the primary animator of the show, and Sam Deats and Adam Deats are directing under it. Kevin Kolde and Clive Bradley will serve as front-runners and executive producers under the banner of Project 51 Productions. The show will consist of a total of 8 episodes with a runtime of approximately 20-25 minutes. The episodes are shot in English and subtitles will be available.

The plot of the series is adapted from the 1993 entry Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and its sequel Symphony of the Night. It centres on Richter Belmont, a member of the Belmont family, and is set in 1792, at the height of the French Revolution. Richer Belmont, who is a descendant of the Belmont vampire-hunting clan, has to make a tough choice. To prevent the world from an apocalypse, he must join a group of unlikely hunters and magicians during the peak of the French Revolution.

The alliance between the Church and the Messiah is a lot more messy than initially expected. In order to throw away the revolutionaries and restore the natural order, Abbot joins hands with vampires. However, Erzsebet, who proclaims herself as the goddess asks Abbot to make a sacrifice to seal the alliance. She asks him to sacrifice his daughter, Maria, whom he had abandoned years ago.

What happened to Maria?

Maria finds out that Abbot is her father and a newfound love for him rises within her. Richter, Tera and Annette plan to go to the chateau and abbey at the same time. However, Maria was concerned for her father and sneaked out in the middle of the night to warn him. But Abbot captured her instead to offer her to Erzsebet. Mizrak was against the decision made by the Abbot so he reached Tera’s house to inform them about the abduction. Richter along with Annette and Tera rush over to the church to rescue Mira.

Was Tera able to send the Forgemaster’s machine back to hell?

When the three of them reached the church, they were able to rescue Maria. Tera started to chant the spells the spells to open the portal and Annette headed down to the Abbey to use her powers and send it through the portal. Richter had to face more enemies and he could easily take on Drolta. However, Erzsebet arrived in her highest form and took the book away from Tera which closed the portal. Although they tried to defeat her, it was of no use as her power reached a whole new level.

Was Maria sacrificed to Erzsebet?

Erzsebet walks closer to Maria to complete the sacrificial ceremony but Tera stops her. Tera offers herself instead and asks to let Maria go. The vampire queen accepts her request as Abbot loves her as well. But the sacrifice did not mean that life would be taken, instead, Erzsebet was offering the gift of eternal life. She makes Tera drink her blood and soon she starts to transform.

Who is Alucard?

Even after the sacrifice made by the Abbot, the vampires were not satisfied so Drolta along with others went after Annette, Richter and Maria to kill them. However, as Drolter was about to kill Richter, someone from behind stabbed her with a sword. The man had black attire on with white hair. He soon reveals that he is Dracula’s son, Alucard. He is the offspring of Dracula, one of the most dangerous vampires and a human named, Lisa. But did not agree with his father’s motives and stood against everything he believed in. Which is why he took the name Alucard, Dracula’s name in reverse, to represent he had opposite beliefs to his father.
