Best Female Anime Side Characters: We often fail to give credit to side characters, and many times, they are the ones who make the heart of the series. They almost tear the attention away from the main character and make you aware of their presence.
Thus, on this International Women’s Day, it is only natural that we celebrate some very essential female anime side characters who got our attention for all the right or sometimes wrong reasons. So, without further ado, let us dive into our list.
Celebrating 6 Best Female Anime Side Characters
Maki Zenin

Maki was born into the powerful Zenin Clan, known for valuing cursed energy and sorcerers with strong bloodlines. However, she did not have any cursed energy from birth, making her an outcast within her own family. Even after this, Maki trains lots and hones her physical abilities to become a formidable non-sorcerer Jujutsu Sorcerer, defying expectations.
This is why she outshines almost all female characters in JJK because of how well we all can relate to her as a person. Maki’s lack of cursed energy is not at all her weakness, but rather, it fuels her resolve to prove herself more.
Plus, she more than enough makes up for her disadvantage as we see her beating the crap out of people with plenty of cursed powers in them.
Chika Fujiwara

Chika serves as Kaguya-sama: Love Is War’s quintessential comedic relief. She has an energetic and chaotic personality, along with some outlandish antics.
Her behaviour constantly disrupts the narrative’s more serious moments, giving us hilarious situations and lighthearted breaks.
Hence, we must admit that Chika’s comic role is crucial to the anime’s success.
But, other than her special traits, her expressiveness and uniquely silly facial expressions make her popular for fan art and memes. This fact readily pushed her fame to beat the anime itself and reach a wider audience who might not have even watched the show.
Boa Hancock

Boa Hancock holds the title of the Most Beautiful Woman in the World, possessing unparalleled beauty that enchants both men and women in the series. This unique physical attribute instantly captures attention and sets her apart from other characters.
Additionally, her status as a powerful pirate captain and a user of the Mero Mero no Mi Devil Fruit, which grants her the power to turn people to stone, further makes her an influential character for many One Piece fans.
Erza Scarlet

Erza is definitely one of the strongest characters in all of Fairy Tail, and perhaps because of her sheer coolness, she is more famous than even her male counterparts.
She possesses immense magical power and exceptional combat skills, often overshadowing other main characters in battles. Perhaps, it is her strength and determination that make her a fan favourite, especially among viewers like me who admire a badass female character.
But other than all these things, Erza also has a really great visual design. With her scarlet hair, unique armour, and weapons that change with every new form, Erza stands out in the best way possible. She is easily recognizable and visually unforgettable, further donating to her popularity in the anime community.
Rem

Rem became so famous with the Re:Zero fandom that till now, the fans have been in an ongoing battle of the best waifus. But whether you are team Rem or Emilia, you also agree that Rem is a lovable character who deserves the attention she gets.
Her love for Subaru and her initial tsundere appeal, where we see a contrast between her icy demeanour and her affection, resonate with fans. We all could feel what she felt and became heartbroken when she was rejected.
Another thing that makes her a hit, is how she demonstrates her love through immense self-sacrifice. This quality is something that I personally find admirable. So, what if she could not get the guy? She is still one of the best ever!
Riza Hawkeye

Whoever has watched FMAB has definitely loved our best lieutenant, Riza Hawkeye. She carries herself with confidence and has some excellent marksmanship. The fact that she made a name for herself in a traditionally male-dominated field also makes us admire and respect her.
But the dynamic between Riza and Roy Mustang, her superior and close friend, is certainly something all the fans are fascinated with. Their mutual respect and subtle hints of deeper emotions (hopefully love) spark curiosity and interest among viewers. Yes, it gives fangirls like me the chance to ship them.
