Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Review: One Battle Ends, Another Begins!

We get to see the conclusion of the ghoul battle and progress to something far more interesting. Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 promises a lot of action and just as many mind games. Let’s check the episode out!

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Overview

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Title

Battle Game in 5 Seconds is a Death Game style anime produced by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions in collaboration with Studio A-CAT. Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions is known for producing several well-known anime series of the past, such as Monster and Pokemon, to name a few. On the other hand, Studio A-CAT is mostly an unproven commodity. The series is based upon a web manga written by Saizou Harawata.

The series is known by multiple names, some of them being- Battle in 5 Seconds After MeetingDea5, and Deatte 5-byou de Battle in original Japanese. If you want to catch up on our previous reviews of the series, you can do so by clicking here. This episode is thus also known as Deatte 5-byou de Battle Episode 7.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Review- Plot and Characters

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Characters

The plot thickens as more people realise that Akira is hiding something from them. He has to, of course, because his ability only works if people believe he has an ability. Imagine if everyone found out he had the kind of ability that he has. He would be dead before he could say, “I’ll have my revenge on you, Mion-Chan”.

This leads to him playing a lot of cerebral games with his friends and opponents alike. But if he plays his cards right, he has the literal most powerful ability possible. Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 showcased his wit in combat, alongside the close connection he now shares with Yuuri. They are cute together! The deception against Team Red and Team Green’s leader is an interesting path to explore.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Tatara

The show’s current direction is fascinating, but the stakes of this arc have left no doubt in my mind about where it is going to go. Just because something is predictable doesn’t mean it’s bad, though. Plenty of good things are predictable. What matters is how the events of the story are executed, which Battle Game in 5 Seconds seems to be doing quite well. In the last episode, we saw Tatara return, and Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 brings another familiar face back. The Tatara-Akira dynamic is very interesting, and we’ll talk about it more when the spoiler-free nature of this review does not bind me.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 Review- The Art and Music

We have talked about this before, but Battle Game in 5 Seconds is a cheaply produced show. There wasn’t much money to go around while creating it, which shows. The animators and writers are probably working with what they’ve got, which isn’t nearly as much as they would like it to be. This means that Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 cannot compare with other anime regarding the animation quality.

Frames look awkward, there isn’t much detail, and just like the last episode, the CGI looks terrible. But if you have stuck with this show for this long, you probably don’t care about it as much anymore, just like me. It is what it is, sometimes the money just isn’t there, and you really can’t do anything about it. Just take in the story and characters while ignoring the animation. It isn’t very important in the large scheme of things anyway. The music is great, though!

Verdict

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 7 was great, or at least as great as it could be when its own animation department is playing against it. Everything except that works great, resulting in a perfectly enjoyable anime that you should give a chance.

Love Of Kill Episode 2 was a decent outing and an improvement from the first time we saw the show. There are things to improve alongside entire parts that need to be fixed, but it was good for what it was.
