Amsterdam Empire Ending Explained
The episode opens with cannabis bigwig Jack van Doorn getting murdered in public before we go 1 month previously, when Betty, his wife, learned about his affair and that he wanted a divorce from her. Betty, however, doesn’t play easy or nice and demands to get everything from him, including Jack’s prized shop, The Jackal. He, of course, refuses, and that night, when he goes to meet Guido, things immediately escalate when the latter refuses to keep working with him, and Jack ends up killing him.

Meanwhile, out on her revenge path, Betty reaches out to Erik to get all the dirty details about Jack and build her case against him, while Jack, with his den raided, struggles to find more cannabis after having burnt all of his bridges. After Betty releases one of Marjolein’s private videos, Jack tells her that her rash actions have resulted in Guido going missing, and she agrees to Jack’s terms out of guilt. However, when Guido’s wife tells her how he seemingly committed suicide, something that Jack had joked about doing to her, she realises that he killed his old partner without a single thought.
With the flames of revenge burning brighter than ever, Betty continues to find ways to sabotage Jack, but this time, he fights back and takes his house back, leaving her homeless. However, she goes on a popular talk show and exposes everything about Marjolein and Jack, leaving her to question her fiancé and eventually leaving him. Meanwhile, Jack’s new business partner, Gijs, takes Betty’s statement personally and decides to attack her at home and almost kills her, until she promises to hand over The Jackal to him.

In the aftermath, she tries to get cosy with Bolle, who owns 10% of the shares of the business, with Jack tries to do as well. Eventually, Bolle agrees to give his shares to Betty, but only if she sleeps with him. Her other avenue is getting in touch with Jack’s first wife, Shanti, who has her own plans for owning The Jackal.
Who ends up owning The Jackal?

After a court case that doesn’t quite go in Betty’s favour, Gijs is left annoyed and plans to murder Jack for his share. Betty rushes to save him, but he is shot right in front of her eyes. As he goes into a coma, Shanti, Betty and Katya take matters into their own hands with the Tichelaars and kill all of them. However, the interesting thing that comes out of all of this is that Betty finds Guido’s lighter in front of the cabin, which tells her for certain that Jack had something to do with his death.
In the end, Betty uses this information to get Jack to hand The Jackal, after he comes out of the coma, over to her to keep his secret safe. However, is it the end of the fight between the two of them?
