Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 8 Recap
This episode kicks off with Alya going to the student council president, furious about the public embarrassment she and Kuze just experienced. She explains how they were humiliated in front of the entire school and vows to prove their legitimacy in the upcoming student council election through a debate. Alya is clearly taking the situation to heart, especially because Taniyama was particularly harsh toward Kuze. Realizing that she might have been the reason Kuze was insulted only fuels her determination to win. Taniyama’s disdain for Kuze stems from his decision to support Alya instead of Yuki, which Taniyama sees as a betrayal. In her mind, publicly shaming the pair was justified.

As the debate begins, it’s obvious that Alya is nervous—it’s her first time speaking in front of such a large audience, and the pressure of debating only adds to her anxiety. However, Kuze quickly steps in, easing her tension. With his support, Alya regains her composure, and what initially seemed like a shaky start transforms into an engaging debate.
Both sides present their strongest arguments, making for an intense back-and-forth that captivates the audience. During this episode, we also finally uncover Kuze’s true reason for choosing Alya over Yuki. Previously, his decision to run for the vice president position was driven by guilt over his separation from his sister. But now, his motivation is entirely different—he genuinely wants to stay by Alya’s side and support her.
