Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 10 Review A Belated Birthday

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 9 Preview

This episode opens with a heavy atmosphere in the Suou household, where Yuki faces intense questioning from her grandfather. He belittles her, comparing her to her more accomplished brother and pushing her to succeed at any cost. However, Yuki isn’t the type to be easily crushed. She might play the part of a refined lady, but she quickly regains her usual self, refusing to let the negativity drag her down.

Meanwhile, Alya is upset by the backlash Taniyama is receiving after the debate. In response, Masachika decides to step in and talk to Nonoa to clear up the situation. When asked why he’s so concerned about a competitor, he openly admits that it is all for Alya’s sake. This leads to some comedic moments, as Yuki and Ayano secretly listen in on the conversation, only for Alya to catch them in the act, resulting in yet another misunderstanding.

Alya’s ongoing suspicion of Yuki as a romantic rival continues to fuel her jealousy. She isn’t pleased with the closeness between Masachika, Yuki, and Ayano. On the other hand, Yuki delights in Alya’s jealousy, even going so far as to use it for her own amusement, creating plenty of lighthearted scenes that keep things entertaining.

The episode’s most amusing part comes when Yuki and Masachika decide to hypnotize the Kujou sisters. Masachika’s intentions are innocent, but he forgets that his sister has a mischievous streak and a love for causing chaos. Yuki takes things further, giving the sisters commands that make them increasingly uninhibited. She tells them to let go of their restraints, both mentally and physically, leading to a series of chaotic and troublesome situations.

It’s exam time for Masachika, and just like us, he can’t concentrate. This segment becomes a bit too relatable when he tries not to take an anime break because he knows he will not go back to study. A relatable moment for all of us. But something even better happens as Alya calls him out of nowhere. Here, we get to know about Alya’s and Masachika’s birthdays, and Alya is not at all happy about it.

Apparently, birthdays are a big thing in Russian households, hence, she is miffed that Masachika, who claims to be her friend, did not invite her to his birthday party. Later, when they meet, she lets him know about this grievance, and he finally comes clean that he hardly ever celebrates his birthday. Thus, to put her mind at ease, Masachika invites her on a date to celebrate his birthday three months later.

This was not all the episode also had other characters featured, who added to the entertainment significantly. We’re also told about the upcoming student council presentation where the candidates for the student council president would introduce themselves in front of all the students. Along with them, the supporters would also come and put forward their reasoning behind their support of the presidential candidate. This is a very important segment, as the applause of the students will determine whether they are interested in the presidential candidate or not.

But there were also plenty of comedic moments. One was definitely Masha trying to avoid Masachika and the topic of hypnotism altogether. She finally gets over her shyness and asks about her behaviour while she was hypnotised the other day. She also asked Masachika whether he saw anything, and well, he couldn’t deny that.

In this episode, we also see Yuki being the spoiled sister she is and throwing tantrums at her brother. Their playful banter is again entertaining to witness.

Verdict

Today’s episode relied heavily on cute and playful moments, and we did not progress that much story-wise. The characters are becoming more and more beloved with each episode, and you can’t help but support them. You will also see how comfortable our pair has gotten as they even display their affections openly.
