Don’t Look Up has left a great impression on the masses. Along with a significant and alarming story, the hilarious and star-studded cameos surely did play a huge role in making the audience stick with the plot. Directed by Adam McKay, the film is a satirical comedy piece. It has an ensemble cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Scott Mescudi, Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey and Cate Blanchett.
Among several cameos, one of them was by singer Ariana Grande. Ariana’s cameo did leave us all in fits. We have previously seen the singer being a part of Scream Queens, and it has been really long since. Her unwanted entry meeting Professor Mindy (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and the much-wanted song ‘Just Look Up’ towards the film’s end gave the film both the silly and heavy side.
Ariana Grande’s Improv in Don’t Look Up
Director Adam McKay reveals how the singer improvised most of her dialogues. Adam also reveals that his favourite is the epic song ‘Just Look Up’ while the singer was just riffing on the first scratch track. One of the most sensational pop stars singing melodiously ‘we are all gonna die’ sets off a hilarious cognitive dissonance, notes McKay.
It was truly a pleasure watching Grande drop truth bombs on climate change and the ignorance of human beings through her beautiful song with an impending disaster looming over the world.
