900 Days Without Anabel Review
The docuseries brings the case of Spain’s longest-running kidnapping case that yielded results that shook the country. Bringing the real tapes recorded during the incident of calls between the kidnappers and the Seguro family lawyer, we are given a thrilling experience. Viewers are taken through the 900 days of Anabel Seguro’s disappearance where chaos ensues the family and investigators, as they hope for the return of the young woman.

The show is truly intriguing as it pulls you into the overall feeling of fear, and hope that comes with each time the kidnappers call the Seguro House. The way it brings about the 900 days of Anabel’s disappearance, we can feel the hope that shatters again and again of those who are trying to solve the case. You can feel your goosebumps rise every time the recordings are played on screen.
The dramatisation and the interviews of the people connected to the kidnapping bring out the eerie feeling that surrounds the case. The information about the family is just right, and the emotions shared by the family, the investigators, the neighbours and the people in the country are also presented in the right form.

I also cannot deny the way the focus also fell on the change in the mindset of the people in the country who witnessed this incident. The way they try to restrict their daughters for their “safety” due to such incidents shows how the people were made to think that this is the right way to deal with such an incident. It truly shows the different sides of the world where on one side the people sympathise with the victim while on the other side, they take away the people’s freedom for their safety.
Coming to the interviews, you can see the emotions on the faces of the investigators who were part of the case back then. You can see them regretting some of their actions while wishing that things turned out differently for the case. The emotions during these interviews are raw and something that makes you feel connected to the case as a whole.
The cinematography on the other sets the mood right throughout the episodes. While it builds up the case and takes us through the highs of the case, it smoothly takes us through the public outrage and the conclusion of the case. The storytelling is smooth and does not hold any room for disturbances, leaving you caught in the emotional chaos going through the people on the screen.

Summing Up
Overall, this is a series that really creates an impact on viewers as you are taken through a bone-chilling experience that is like no other. The docuseries is beautifully made and brings about an experience like no other, as we see the case that shook the whole of Spain, quite literally. A show worth watching.
