Once you say yes to B Grade Bollywood movies, there is no turning back. The industry’s niche in B-grade filmography just cannot be ignored. Cringe fests in their own ways, these movies will definitely make you question reality. You may have heard of some of them, but this article will help you differentiate between them and enlighten you more.
What makes the films in this list bizarre is that each of them has some of the most renowned and talented Bollywood actors of all time. It seems that despite their popularity, the actors have all had their fair share of substandard movies that they had to do to establish their presence. But how they said yes to such scripts is what I wonder. Take a look.
6 B Grade Bollywood Movies
Gunda (Gangster) – 1998
A man falls in love with a woman, but the woman’s father disapproves, reaching out to a gangster to separate the two lovers. That’s the story of Gunda. But don’t be fooled. A masterpiece in itself; every dialogue in the film is in verse. The way molestation and murder have been addressed and described in the film will blow your mind and almost make you wish you could speak like that. It has Mithun Chakraborty as the hero, yes, the hero. To call him the lead will be to demean him.
Tum Mere Ho (You are Mine) – 1990
Aamir Khan may have become a perfectionist today, but he began as a snake charmer. Tum Mere Ho is insane. From impossible logic to pro-cringe dialogues, which include normalizing rape, to sensational overacting, this movie has it all. The movie also stars Juhi Chawla and a shape-shifting female snake. You have to watch it to believe me.

Prem Aggan (The Fire of Love) – 1998
The debut movie of Fardeen Khan, son of legendary Bollywood actor Feroz Khan, is outright funny. Not just the dialogues but even the songs have crystal-clear sexual intonations. That, accompanied by Fardeen’s robotic voice and expressions, make Prem Aggan not a movie but a satire aimed at mocking B Grade Bollywood movies.

Zakhmi Rooh (Wounded Soul) – 1993
A horror story, this one is another banger from the naughty 90s. The quality of the dialogues and the songs are bound to give you Tum Mere Ho vibes. The only difference is in the horror elements. It’s really scary, as in B-grade scary. So in order to understand this, you need to see that first. And we aren’t talking about the story.
Loha (Metal) – 1987
This is Gunda‘s alma mater. It has the same director and thus the abuses by the same insane amount of logic that defy everything you ever knew. With the iconic Dharmendra and Mithun Chakraborty in the lead roles, the similes and metaphors in this movie are lessons on how to mock and threaten your enemy without raising a finger.

Jaani Dushman (Sworn Enemies) – 2002
I don’t want to address this movie as a B grade because it has one of my favourite actors, Akshay Kumar, but it is the truth. Another rape-normalizer that was among the concluding B-grade Bollywood movies, this one sets the bar high with its special effects, borrowing material from almost every Hollywood movie that came at the time. The story goes something like this- A male shape-shifting cobra vows revenge when his female counterpart is molested in her human life. Read that again.
