Keeping in mind that all good things come to an end, here we will be talking about 10 actors we want to see as superheroes. While a few have already donned the superhero cape, we want them back in more true-to-form avatars. Men have come and men have gone, but there’s always room for more regarding superheroes. Personally speaking, I have many actors in mind who deserve to be cast as superheroes more than some who already have been. So this list is dedicated to them.
The primary requirement for an actor to be a superhero is for him/her to look the part. Being an audience, that’s the first thing that I will naturally go for. Everything else comes later. For instance, take Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter. I didn’t find him menacing at all whereas that’s Kraven’s first characteristic. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed for that one, here’s who I think need to be superheroes.

10 Actors We Want to See as Superheroes
Emily Blunt
Her role in Edge of Tomorrow proved that she is superhero material. While she has made it clear that she isn’t interested in such movies, I believe she would have been a much better Captain Marvel or Invisible Woman or even Poison Ivy. Her husband did a cameo as Mr Fantastic, though it didn’t go down so well with the fans but wouldn’t we love to imagine an alternate future where the two play their respective parts? The chemistry would be off the hook.
Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam, just from his appearance, would be apt as Logan or Wolverine. Two things are very important for being Logan, beard and rage. Hunnam has established both of these pretty well in his works, especially 2019’s The Gentlemen. There are lots of pictures on social media of him as the Wolverine, edited by people who share my view. And they look pretty cool.
Charlize Theron
MCU already cast her as Sorceress Clea, Doctor Strange’s love interest from the comics. But I just couldn’t wrap my head around her in that avatar. For me, she would have been perfect as Madame Web or perhaps even Mystique. Her appearance would be perfect for that of a strong woman with a dark side. And we have already seen her in this avatar in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, 2008’s Hancock and 2017’s The Fate of the Furious.
Tom Cruise
There was a rumour that Tom Cruise was Tony Stark from another dimension in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But it was false. Needless to say, he would have made the perfect Tony Stark. As a matter of fact, Marvel did reach out to him for the role but he said no, and that’s how Robert Downey Jr got to wear the suit. The rest is history.
But it doesn’t take away the fact Tom Cruise is worthy of being Stark Jr. due to his knowledge of cars and bikes and planes and his love for trying something new all the time. But more than anything else, the stunts are what makes an actor effective as a superhero. And who’s better at stunts than this guy?
Viola Davis
Viola Davis would have been perfect as Ramonda, mother of T’Challa/Black Panther. The strength is evident in her voice, let alone the way she carries herself is no lesser than a queen’s. Her role in 2022’s The Woman King only proved it. Also, this character is a portfolio for her role as DC’s Nubia, a warrior of Amazon. I would love to see her in such roles. If Marvel plans to improvise on strong women characters, she should be among the top contenders on the list of actors we want as superheroes.

John Krasinski
After a failed cameo as Mr. Fantastic, John Krasinski deserves a strong comeback. No doubt he would be great as the smartest man in the universe but it would be nice to see him as Captain America himself for whose role he even auditioned before Chris Evans. With the multiverse now open, there are multiple possibilities. So why not have him back as the Star-Spangled Man himself?
Meryl Streep
Madame Web. That’s it. Meryl Streep as Madame Web would be a dream come true. And deep down, I feel that she knows a lot about everyone, being in the industry for so long. This characteristic is one that she shares with Web who is also an all-knowing being. And she can be menacing without being menacing, case in point, 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada.
Nicholas Cage
Nicholas Cage nailed the role of the unhinged Ghost Rider and it was sad that the second part tanked at the box office. So if there is a return of the character in the MCU pipeline, Cage deserves to be considered at least for the aged version from whom the new Ghost Rider shall learn how to control his powers. P.S.- There are multiple Ghost Riders in the Marvel comics.
Keanu Reeves
Guns, bullets, wrath of God, that’s the style of Keanu Reeves. This gives me major Punisher vibes if not Judge Dredd. But considering his experience with heaven and hell in 2005’s Constantine, he is also a strong contender for Ghost Rider. But if you ask me, between him and Nick Cage, I cannot help but choose the latter. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing Reeves’ skull on fire. That would be cool, no doubt.
Karl Urban
Remember when I said that I didn’t like Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter? I would’ve loved to see Karl Urban play the role instead. In The Boys, he proved that can pull off the character of a hunter to the tee. With that scary smile with nothing held back for his enemies and the name Billy Butcher, he would serve as a dangerous Kraven.
