Zenshu Episode 2 Recap

In this episode, now that Natsuko has entered the anime world, her life has taken a complicated turn. After displaying her powers to save her favourite characters, she falls into a deep sleep and only wakes up three days later. During this time, Luke takes care of her, ensuring she’s fed and initiating conversations that help both of them understand their situations better.

Luke struggles to make sense of Natsuko’s claims about being from the “real world.” Her references to “animators” confuse him, as he interprets them as wizards. He’s also taken aback by how much Natsuko seems to know about him and the other heroes. As they talk, it becomes clear that Natsuko cannot summon her powers at will, and she reveals that her animator tool can speak. It was this tool that instructed her to draw when she was under attack, unlocking her abilities.

Later, the two are summoned by the mayor and a prophet, who question Natsuko and express their desire for her to join the Nine Soldiers. Luke vehemently opposes this idea and even declares his outright dislike for girls. However, events quickly spiral out of control, and Natsuko finds herself in yet another troublesome situation in this unfamiliar world. Along the way, we uncover more about her mysterious powers and the creatures threatening the realm of A Tale of Perishing.

The attacks are finally over, so the heroes can now take a break and have some fun. Natsuko finally gets to dress up and attend the much-awaited harvest festival because now she is officially considered one of the heroes after her heroic feats. She is ecstatic because she can eat everything she wants and drink to her heart’s content. Luke, on the other hand, would rather prepare for the upcoming battle than be at the party. He even tries to make others follow him back, but they outright deny him.

But in this episode, another significant member gets introduced. She is none other than Destiny, the original heroine of the anime. She is also the reason behind all the problems caused by her indirect involvement with many things. Her death is also the prime factor that breaks Luke emotionally, quickening his ruin. Thus, before anything happens to her, Natsuko must stay prepared.

In this episode, Natsuko again plays a much bigger role, even more prominent than the hero Luke himself. This is also because of Destiny, who makes him drunk at the most important moment. What this episode again ends with is a, ‘do not worry, Natsuko is here’ moment.

Again, today’s episode was very predictable and similar to the previous episode. I have a feeling that this is the formula the anime is going to follow, where the city or Soul Futures would get threatened, and Voids would appear. Natsuko and others will face off against these Voids, and when no one is able to defeat their army, Natsuko summons one of the characters by drawing, and she saves the day.

I would say this episode was decent yet mediocre, as it presents nothing new from what we have seen. If this is how it will continue, then this will not be a terrible show but, at the same time, not a great show either. But yes, it is entertaining, so you can definitely watch this if you want.
