Watch: John Cena’s Peacemaker Takes A Dig At Aquaman

The announcement of John Cena’s Peacemaker getting a series of its own after the release of the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’ did not appeal to a lot of people. As much as one can love this particular DC character, it is a little rushed to jump on the character’s origin story or backstory based on watching him in a single film, especially a film where he was more or less the anti-hero. Having said that, it is rare that HBO Max greenlights something that gravely disappoints the audience. So, one can keep their hopes high.

‘Peacemaker’ is created by James Gunn, who has not only directed the 2021 ‘The Suicide Squad’ film but has also directed Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film series. It is the first DCEU TV series and explores the origins of Peacemaker, who is a costumed black ops soldier with the belief in achieving peace at any cost. John Cena stars in the titular role alongside Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, and Chukwudi Iwuji. It is produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Films and James Gunn serves as showrunner.

A clip filled with profanity that has surfaced online from the San Diego Comic-Con, Special Edition, shows John Cena’s Peacemaker bashing DC’s much-loved character Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa in the films). In the clip we see John Cena’s character getting into a heated conversation with janitor Jamil (played by Rizwan Manji) when the shots at Aquaman are fired.

The clip has generated some hilarious reactions and some angry notifications from fans. However, it is an overall funny clip giving a glimpse into what ‘Peacemaker’ is going to be like. The series is all set to release on HBO Max on January 13, 2022.
