Twinkle Khanna Comments on Maharani; Huma Qureshi Addresses Speculations

SonyLiv series Maharani dropped on the internet on 28th May 2021. The series received mixed reactions as some said it was average, and some found it very interesting. Like others, actor and author Twinkle Khanna has seen this trending series and posted her review of the movie on Instagram via a video. To brief her reaction, she termed Maharani as a fabulous show and a must-watch. She also said she is impressed by the little details of the show.

Statement by Twinkle Khanna on Maharani

In her video on Instagram, she said, “I have been watching a show called Maharani on SonyLIV, and it has me gripped. Huma Qureshi plays this illiterate housewife who then goes on to become the CM. And I thought it was interesting to see a woman not only hold her ground but who was able to dominate the social and political arena.”

“The way that they have used little-little details… I kept noticing how in the beginning, even her Ghoonghat completely covers her, and as the show progresses, it keeps slipping a little behind until it is just about covering her bun. To me, these little touches add a sort of realism as well as show me a journey. It is an engaging story, and Huma is just fabulous as the Maharani. For me, this was completely a must-watch!”

She also captioned her video review as, “Totally worth the binge! An engaging story about ambition and power with great performances, especially by @iamhumaq You go, girl! #MaharaniOnSonyLIV @sonylivindia @sonylivinternational.”

About the series Maharani

Subhash Kapoor has directed the series. It stars Huma Qureshi in the lead role. She plays the role of Rani Bharti, who became the Chief Minister of Bihar after her husband Bheema Bharti got attacked. So the story is basically about her journey from a housewife to a politician.

Huma Qureshi Puts an end to the speculations of the real-life resemblance of the series

This series had grabbed attention even before it was released. As many were speculating that it is the story of Rabri Devi, wife of Lalu Prasad Yadav, former chief minister of Bihar, as even he had stepped down after the fodder scam and had made his wife the chief minister. However, Huma Qureshi put an end to these speculations by stating to PTI, “It is not inspired by any real-life politician or anything. It is completely fiction. Just because it is Bihar, people have made assumptions. Our show is completely a work of fiction, and so there were no references to look at.”
