The Uncanny Counter Season 2: 3 Things That Left Us Disappointed in This Sequel!

With the end of The Uncanny Counter season 2, there is no doubt that fans are already missing the show while hoping to get another season of the Counters’ blast. However, while the sequel has been a treat for fans of the show, we are also left with some disappointment that cannot be ignored.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 (경이로운 소문 2: 카운터 펀치) brings the return of the supernatural mystery comedy-drama of the same name directed by Yoo Seon-dong. The show stars Cho Kyeong-kyu, Yoo Joon-sang, Kim Se-jeong, Yeom Hye-ran, Ahn Suk-hwan, and Yoo In-soo in the lead roles alongside other cast members.

The new season continues the story of the group of Counters who catch evil spirits from the afterlife who have come searching for immortality. With new members joining the gang and bigger evils coming their way, the Counters are ready for a counterattack and stop anyone who comes their way.

The Counters did deliver a spectacular sequel with a banger start and a fulfilling ending. From the power upgrades of both the heroes and the villains, the plot brought out this season was a definite treat for us all. Even better was the wide range this season took by including the Counters from other places who are also saving the world in their way.

While there wasn’t much detail on this particular aspect we still saw a glimpse of it, which left us excited. This brings us to the point of how while there were many amazing points this season, there were also those that left us disappointed. Fans surely had many hopes for this season which were not fulfilled and we are here to count them out so that we soon get another season that will fulfil these wishes.

With this, here are 3 things that left us disappointed in The Uncanny Counter season 2!

The Uncanny Counter Season 2: 3 Things That Had Us Disappointed

So Mun and Do Ha-na Ship That Never Sails

Let’s begin with the one ship we hoped to set sail all season only to be disappointed when even a single hug was rejected brutally. While Ha-na’s heartbreaking past love came to an end, we really hoped that at least this time we would get to see something between her and So Mun. I guess we expected too much to happen within these 12 episodes which left us with empty hearts when their amazing chemistry was waster yet again.

The Characters and Their Plot

This season had quite a well-put-together group of actors who brought their characters to life, however, there just wasn’t enough attention given to their stories. While the Counters were shown interacting with others outside the group, there just wasn’t enough time and plot poured into the interactions. It is true that Do-hwi, Han-ul and Jae-youl did not get enough of a plot other than being important to the Counters when needed.

Similarly, even the antagonists Gelly and Wong were surprisingly without much story to them and were only brought to add to extending the plot. While Pil-gwang was definitely given a better flow for obvious reasons, his sidekicks were without a start and appeared to give the Counters some fighting scenes and to be finished off.

Too Much Yet, Just Not Enough!

Finally, the 12 episodes were not enough yet seemed too much for the plot. While so much more could have been done by bettering the main plot, the addition of other stories made it a mixture of incomplete plots and hard to focus on the main story. Meanwhile, with more episodes, maybe all these other stories could have gotten their much-deserved attention which would have been a treat to us all.

Thus, while Ju-seok clearly took over the show with his storyline, everyone else’s aura seemed to be weakened. Along with this came a long string of predictability which only added fuel to the fire and left us wondering if this was truly what we had been hoping for all this while.

Altogether, while the show brought in many hopes for us, it was also disappointing to a certain extent. While the shots of the actors and the hilarious exchange between them did keep us entertained, it wasn’t all satisfying.

However, it is still a show that you cannot miss because there are many other elements that will make this season worthwhile. Now, the only thing missing is The Uncanny Counter season 3 which will wipe out all these negatives and bring back the Counters whom we are already missing.

With this, watch The Uncanny Counter season 2 on Netflix.

  1. I totally disagree. Season 2 is much better than season 1. Romantic relationship within the counters So Mun and Ha-Na will ruin the show. They should remain as family. Gosh! Why do people always think having a love affair within leads in an action show is good. It’s not! Watch a romance show instead.

    • It is not about the love, it is about the entire story and plot in season 2 especially in episode 10, make no sense at all. Also when Pil-Gwang killed Gelly, how can he suck that soul and became more powerful, considering there is no more counter soul in Gelly’s body 😀 I think the entire season 2 make nonsense, i rather they have no season 2 in this case lol.

    • When you watch a series, you kept scolding with anger and felt like you were watching the worst series at that point of time, that means the director should consider not directing any series/ movie in his life anymore lol

  2. I’m that there is no serious love angle in this drama, but the thing that disappointed me was the addition of new counter was badly written like he added literally no value to the group instead was just an added burden, and that no explanation of evil spirit that entered Ma ju soek’s body, why he was so strong from the start or how he already knew a lot about counters, and lastly too much attention to so mun I get it that he is the main character but still there is just toooo much spotlight on him, other counters become bystanders.

    • It feels like the director just wanted to add 1 more people to the team to spark up the series, but has no plans for this new counter lol. Actually it feels to me that this series is not even ready at some point, but because the first series was quite good, they have decided to continue the momentum of uncanny counter. I seriously suggest “please no more season 3” because you guys have no more idea how to make uncanny counter interesting at all.

      • Actually no, it because the character is in the comic. But the character is useful in the comic and never lost his power. Also, in the comic, it take really long time for them to realize his power because unlike the live action version, the character turn the other way when he smelled something stinks, no try looking for it, like normal people. Only when evil spirit attack their secret base that they realize his power.

    • I was so disappointed at the new memeber he wasn’t very useful although he did keep us entertained he wasn’t doing much and I also wanted to see the other counters develop but it focused too much on son mun (main character) which left me a bit unsatisfied

  3. Season 2 was awesome the evilness really helped it was a good season for season 2
It will helped us how and what happened when Su Mon came back
    Need more casting in future
I can see season 3 for my Uncanny Counters
I know they will be back with that new suits fits everyone and looking good
Please do season 3 and 4 please

  4. The new added counter was not doing much just trying to find the evil spirits and that’s it they should have done something from the new counter . Mr Ma got all the attention it’s right it was focus more on him and his revenge
But the counters are so much fun Au Mon got more handsome and cute with his short haircut

  5. I agreed with yr points.. The new counter is so burdensome. Stick to the main counters.. No need addition. Moreover the smell power is a power I will definitely do better without it.. More trouble than having a normal nose.

  6. Episode 8 – Pil Gwang absorbed Gelly’s soul and became even stronger (even the counter’s soul has already been summoned) lol.

Episode 11 – Pil-Gwang gets into this guy’s body and kills the old spirit (does not even explain “how” can he continue having enormous power like getting power from the territory – this power should belong to the old evil spirit, not just get into someone’s body, kill the old evil spirit and overtake all the power) lol

Episode 12 – Suddenly fighting with the counters, this evil spirit became so weak, if compared with other previous episodes, all these bunch of shit counters should not even match 50% of his power, but instead, this evil spirit became so weak – the way the director wanted to end this series is really weird lol, he never thought of wasting his audiences time watching

  7. Namaskar : i enjoyed season #1….but in season 2 the actors/actresses seem more ‘loose’. Too much flirtations and romance have crept in. Also excessive drama and extensive socials.
Hoping that season # 3 will be more story oriented and less fashion.
I still enjoyed the philosophy of human predicament though with regards to their level of consciousness !

  8. Im on Season 2 Episode 4 but after reading all your comment that there is no serious relationship going on between So Mun and Ha-Na (which for me or to other people that they should have or atleast give the leading man a leading lady), the new counter is just a burden and no improvement to other counter other than focusing to So Mun, I guest its time to stop watching this.

  9. I’m still at sesson 1 episode 4,

IM GOING TO SUPER ULTRA SAYIN ON SOMEONE, FUCK IM LEAVING THIS SHOW
NOW BEFORE I RUN OUT AND KILL SOMEONE,

JUST FUCKING KILL THEM SO THEY DONT COME BACK, or atleast two of them, especially that goid loojing one, *splat splat spkat* NOT SO FUCKING GOODLOOKING NOW,

now i going to call my anger management guy before i tottaly losing it,

im glad this show endet, MY BLOODPRESSURE IS SKYROCKING …LET ME AT THEM…..☠️☠️????☠️????????????☠️????☠️☠️????☠️☠️

  10. Episode 5, the elevator fight, WHATCTHE FUCKING FUCK WAS THAT???

he didn’t even use he’s power, couldn’t get one good hit,

Those guys need GUNS or something that could made the demon to sleep,

    OR ATLEAST A FUCKING TASER…

LOSER SHOW, and they drive in a gigantious truck, so not hiding in public,

If the demon was that strong it could atleast made a dent in the elevator wall for effect,

To who made this, please use all of your 12-20 braincelles and make something better….yes fuck you…..
