The Lady’s Companion Review: In Madrid, 1880, Elena Bianda was a sought-after lady’s companion who was renowned in the circles for her ability to find successful matches for the women she trained. However, the downside to her job is that when the wedding is done and dusted, her job is over as well! All that changes when she arrives at the Mencía household to train their three daughters. Will Elena be able to pull off another successful job?

The Lady’s Companion Review
There’s something mischievous and sweet about The Lady’s Companion, the Spanish Bridgerton (yes, with the sex scenes). And, of course, this time around, we don’t focus on the rich girls trying to snag a husband. This time, we focus on the companion who is trying to get her job done and get these girls married. However, her newest job involves helping three sisters get married, but this might be the most challenging thing that she has done.
The three sisters in question are reeling from their mother’s death while trying to figure out the marriage scene. Cristina, the oldest of the three, is hopelessly in love with Eduardo, while the second daughter, Sara, wants to be a doctor. The youngest of the family, Carlota, is just a bit odd and rebellious, but who isn’t at that age? These young women are delightful because they have a lot of life and dreams. It’s not just about marriage with these women; they actually want to do something, and they make it happen.

I loved Elena as well. She’s so mischievous that you can’t help but be charmed by her. She believes in getting women married, but not at the cost of their free will and freedom. There’s something very interesting about her past that makes you fall for her all the more as she rebels for what she wants within the confines of a society that pits women against each other. I think it’s the characters that leave you ultimately hooked to the series, and although the plot itself is charming as well, it’s the women who steal your heart.
Of course, the men aren’t too bad either. Santiago is a surprisingly fantastic character with high morals and, most importantly, with a forward-thinking attitude. The love triangle and the romantic moments are expected, but still juicy and make for the perfect binge-watch content. Its light and breezy nature makes it extremely easy to move effortlessly from one episode to another without making you feel too many hard emotions… well, except for the large number of butterflies.
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 Review: Nicola Coughlan is Delightful Once More in Season Finale

The series showcases the complications of women’s lives in the 1800s, and you relate to their struggles because it’s equally relatable in 2025. But whenever the women band together and have each other’s backs, that’s when the series truly shines. There’s something very wholesome about the Mencía women helping each other out against the world that forms the heart of this tale. Meanwhile, as there are also relatable struggles outside, you get a ton of funny, dramatic moments that leave you bewildered. All in all, it’s definitely a very entertaining watch for everyone who loves a little scandal on their watchlist.
Final Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed bingeing this delicious Netflix drama. The performances are excellent, and the characters are charming. The juicy situations make for a stellar watch, titillating us from start to end which giving us ample humour to wash the butterflies down!

Such a poor choice of the lead actress! Poor acting skills. Moreover, she looks like a mother to Santiago!
Agree! I got turned off as soon as I saw the direction it was taking.
I sort of agree with you on that front! The romance angle, although juicy, did feel a bit uncomfortable because of it.
I really like the Lady Companion.
Wish there was a season2
