The Intern: Deepika Padukone Welcomes Amitabh Bachchan On Board With A New Poster

More than a year ago, Deepika Padukone announced the well-acclaimed Hollywood movie’s official Bollywood remake, The Intern (2015). The English film starred Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway in the leading roles. When DP announced the film, actor Rishi Kapoor was going to play Niro’s part. Sadly, Kapoor passed away last year in April. Now, Amitabh Bachchan has stepped into his shoes.

Earlier, there were only speculations going on about Big B being a part of The Intern remake. Today, Deepika confirmed the news on her social media page with an official poster. In the caption, she welcomed Bachchan to the team and expressed her joy.

Deepika and Amitabh will be seen in the same film after a gap of more than 6-7 years. The duo earlier starred in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku, which received a lot of positive reviews. The story, the performances and the comic timing received immense appreciation. So it will be interesting to see how their new venture turns out to be.

On her Instagram page, Deepika Padukone shared the poster and captioned it, “What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again!πŸ’›

Nancy Meyers directed wrote the story for the Hollywood film The Intern. The Indian adaption will have Amit Ravindernath Sharma helming the project written by Akshat Ghildial and Meet Shah. Deepika’s KA Productions, along with Warner Bros India and Athena, will back the project. The film is expected to release during Summer 2020.

Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh were the first two celebs to comment on DP’s announcement post. Hrithik wrote, “One of my fav films πŸ‘”. Padukone’s husband Ranveer commented, “πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ amaze !!! 😍”.

The Intern is a story about a 70-year-old widower joining an online fashion website as a senior intern. The story focuses on his strong bond and friendship with the company’s CEO.

Meanwhile, apart from this, Deepika Padukone will appear in Kabir Khan’s ’83 movie, based on Kapil Dev’s life and India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. Ranveer Singh will portray Kapil, and DP will essay his wife, Romi Dev. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Jiva, Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Boman Irani and Jatin Sarna. The sports drama is expected to hit the silver screens on June 4, 2021.

The actor will also share screen space with Hrithik Roshan in a patriotic-action-drama called Fighter. War director Siddharth Anand will helm the much-awaited project. Both the actors made this huge announcement on Roshan’s birthday. Fans have been waiting for years to see both the actors together on screen. Deepika is also a part of Shakun Batra’s untitled film that stars Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. A few months ago, they shot some parts of the film in Goa.
