Netflix’s ‘The Great Heist’ Review: This is “The Robbery Of The Century”

The Great Heist is a crime drama series based on true events, with the potential to go places. There was some serious work that went into portraying the execution of the heist.

The show has been created by Pablo Gonzalez and Camilo Salazar Prince and has intricately shed light on the lives of the leaders of the robbers along with focussing adequately on the implementation and aftermath of the robbery.

This show is divided into six parts with exciting twists and turns that leave you biting your nails, and wanting more.

The Great Heist is set in Colombia and takes you back almost twenty-five years and makes you witness one of the deadliest and biggest heists ever carried out. Watch it because it surely gives Money Heist a run for its money!

We have Andres Parra who plays Chayo, the mastermind behind the heist, and is fantastic with his portrayal. Along with a fierce and dexterous team, they decide to rob Colombia’s Bank of the Republic.

This show has put in a lot of thought and adroitness into delivering a story that brings out what the greatest robbery ever conducted in history looked and felt like. Sit tight and enjoy this marvellous ride that will entertain, mesmerize and hook you for as long as this show runs.

If you like Money Heist, you will also like The Great Heist

The feel of this show is very similar to that of Money Heist. What I mean by that is, when we watched Money Heist, we saw how detailed the plot was. Every unforeseen situation had been accounted for and every time it occurred our jaws dropped!

The Great Heist also works in a similar manner. They account for every possibility, whether unprecedented or not, and that is marvellous because when you actually see the planning, mind = blown! There’s no violence, no running around – just plain and simple sticking to the plan to get more than 24 billion pesos from the heist.

Very realistic and sticks to the plot all along…

The Great Heist is an extremely realistic TV series because it takes time to show that every person involved in the heist is motivated with their own needs and desires. The series adequately shows their stories for us to understand where this story is going to take us.

There are delicate elements in the heist which gives you many nail-biting moments. You constantly are anticipating for everything to fall apart. The Great Heist is a gem that you should stream right away.

What could possibly be one drawback is that sometimes this series throws too much our way, almost leaving us without breathing space. The characters deserved a bit more of screen space with adequately spaced out narratives but it all falls in place and you mostly will not have a complaint.

Watch it for the way the team members come together for The Great Heist

You’d see how a very important character was unwilling to come in for the heist but he finally does and then we have this brilliant series. The reason why the group gets together is fuelled with the right kind of enthusiasm and methods.

The ending might not be what you’d be hoping for once you start streaming the show but it is still something that you should have on your watchlist. There are many elements that are not related to The Great Heist but somehow it all wonderfully fits within the plot.

The Great Heist is streaming on Netflix.
