The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 1: Seeing Double

The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 1 starts with a quick recap of Cassie’s life after the events of season one- Cassie is now living in LA, dating a guy named Marco, has taken a part-time job (a civilian asset for the CIA) and, is still a full-time flight attendant. We find Cassie in a support group sharing her experience of being two days away from being sober for a year. We get to meet Marc in the first few minutes and get a hot and heavy peek into Cassie and Marco’s relationship, along with Marco’s job of being a photographer.

The next day Cassie leaves to meet her handler, Benjamin, to be given her next mark to observe and report. Benjamin asks Cassie not to get too involved with her marks, stating prior incidents which went out of hand, for her own safety. Cassie’s next mark takes her to Germany, where she keeps an eye on the said person. However, an obstruction takes place while she is keeping an eye out when two strangers thank her for being their flight attendant, while secretly using a phone to trace something from inside Cassie’s purse. Unware, Cassie follows her mark to the bar.

At the bar counter, Cassie orders a glass of lime water which is odd and noticed by her mark. Even though Cassie isn’t allowed to interact with him, she does. She introduces herself as Ali and, gets to know the other person’s name is Will. The two talk a little before Will leaves. Cassie follows him and, clicks pictures of him picking up a package. Then she follows him to a hotel opposite the one where she had met him in the morning, where he checks in and, Cassie finds out his room number. She returns to her hotel and, checks out a room facing Will’s hotel. She is scared when she sees Will having sex with a woman who has the same tattoo as herself on the back.

She gets a glimpse of an exchange happening between Will and the woman with the tattoo and, rushes out to find out who the woman is. Megan gives a call at that very instant and, asks if Cassie has received a key but, Cassie cuts her off. In front of her, Will gets a car which blasts, leaving the territory on fire. Cassie is affected by the blast and, has her hallucination trips, even though she is unable to see who that woman was. Cassie rushes to the hotel and immediately retires to bed, her mind slips and, she is in another hallucinatory space where her old alcoholic self confronts her.

She wakes up with a call from Benjamin asking about Will, which Cassie answers dishonestly. She plans to get ready to leave but, is unable to find her luggage except for her flight attendant’s clothes and, finds out from the reception that her name has already been checked out of the hotel. Cassie explains at the reception that she has not checked out, even though the receptionist claims to have seen Cassie, wearing sunglasses and checking out. During the flight, Cassie is traumatized from the blast incident and, is trying to suppress her alcoholic urges.

Her fellow flight crew member, Grace asks her to serve a drink at a particular seat which is occupied by a man Cassie had seen while peaking into Will’s hotel room the day earlier. The man also vaguely recognizes Cassie but, she tries to brush him off and get home. At her place, Annie and Max are present as they are visiting LA and, Cassie is excited to see Annie wear a ring on her engagement finger, even though Annie claims that she isn’t engaged yet. The fun talk of the friends meeting up is interrupted by two officers, who ask Cassie to go down with them to the CIA station.

At the CIA office, Benjamin and Cassie are taken to talk to Benjamin’s boss, Dot, who informs Cassie she has not done anything technically wrong by being on-site during the accident. Dot and Cassie talk, where the latter tries to tell the former about a woman who looked like Cassie with Will but, Dot brushes her off and asks her to be careful about who she talks to. While exiting the office, Cassie sees the man from the flight. At her home, Max questions her about a post she received which is addressed to her, from her, which reminds Cassie to give Megan a quick call. However, Megan doesn’t pick up and, we see her spying on someone.

The Flight Attendant Season 2‘s first episode ends with Cassie’s luggage getting delivered to her doorstep. However, when she opens it to check, she finds things not belonging to her, along with a wig covered in blood. Max and Annie are panicked and shocked as Cassie drops a speculation bomb that someone is trying to pretend to be Cassie.

The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 2: Mushrooms, Tasers, and Bears, Oh My!

Cassie wakes up in the morning and recollects her memories, which all point to the fact that Grace might be the one trying to sabotage Cassie. She puts her arguments in front of Annie and Max and, even suggests that she could visit grace. However, both Annie and Max are opposed to the idea and, Cassie seemingly quickly drops it. But later we see Cassie call up Grace for a meet up which Grace denies by reasoning that she needs to bake. However, we see her walk out of her house after the phone call with Cassie, which prompts her to follow Grace.

Cassie sees Grace exchanging parcels with a man on a private jet landing ground. Then she heads to her AA meeting where her brother, Davy also joins her as they are celebrating Cassie being sober for a year now. It is an emotional moment with Davey being extra for Cassie’s big achievement but, the moment is followed by a text from Grace asking Cassie if she wants to hang out to which Cassie responds in the affirmative. Before leaving she asks Davey to join her for dinner but, Jenny- who is one obsessed person in AA over Cassie- offers to take Davey to a restaurant when he says he doesn’t wanna a fifth wheel at dinner.

Cassie visits Grace and, snoops around her flat when Grace in the shower, which confirms that Grace might not be the pretender. Cassie even finds the parcel Grace received earlier and, they turn out to be Fetanayll induced lollipops. Creeped out by herself, Cassie leaves Grace’s place with an excuse. Meanwhile, Davey’s lunch with Jenny goes with its own set of ups and downs. Ultimately, Jenny pens down a friendship chord with Davey.

Annie heads home after her disastrous interview at the law firm. But Max cheers her up with the progress on the slides from the view master that came in the suitcase that he has been researching on and, one of them is a match of Eco Lakes in LA. The duo plan to meet Cassie at the location. But the trio, unfortunately, finds nothing at the park. Although the audiences get to see a blonde woman photographing them.

Annie, Max, Cassie and Marco are seen together at dinner next where they exchange words before Cassie mentions that she visited her friend Grace. This makes Annie meet Cassie in the washroom and discuss the situation. Annie advised Cassie to not move ahead with making reckless decisions. Meanwhile, Max advises Marco to take it a step ahead, now that it has been six months together. Outside the restaurant, Marco asks Cassie if he can move in with her. Before Cassie can respond, she gets a call from Megan’s son, who informs her that Megan has snapchatted him a message to send to Cassie. Cassie is, of course, clueless when she receives the forward.

In the earlier part of the episode, Megan was seen grounding poisonous mushrooms and, dancing with, probably, her new partner. But her associations and whereabouts are definitely unclear. The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 2 ends with Max and Annie finding the two strangers from episode one who scanned Cassie’s bag secretly in the apartment opposite Cassie’s. They say that they have rented the place as an Airb&b. Although, we see that the original owners of the house are tied up inside in the closet.

The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 1 & 2: Final Thoughts

The Flight Attendant Season 2 starts with a bang but, soon gets frizzy and stressful. The story is compelling and, the mystery really wants to make you stick with the plot but, the build is so urgent and panicky that it isn’t thrilling during so many moments. The first two episodes have given a nice build-up and, even though season one has an unbeatable plot, what we are dealing with in season two is not bad just yet.

Meanwhile, watching all these characters return to the screen is endearing starting from Cassie and Annie’s friendship to Max’s goofiness to the new characters Grace and Benjamin being really chill. If the story at some point, it is characters that will make one stick to the show. But, yes, it is too early for a verdict.

You can watch the first two episodes of The Flight Attendant Season 2 now on HBO Max.
